WVO Tank help needed - not for a Delica!

Post by BCDelica »

A friend, and his 2003 f250 Ford, plan to go veggie very soon and we are having a problem finding a affordable WVO tank solution. He carries a camper on the short box and the ideal tanks would be the Tour Buddy. At $1600, before tax's and shipping. the price is a bit nuts, we may just have to get one/two custom made. And just put up with the wait for it to be built.

Anybody have any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Kev

frybrid guy has an awesome setup on his dodge 1500. Its in the spare tire space, but he put a dump on his bed to access it better. Not a great sollution for a camper, but he was putting a fil hose in so it could be filled with the bed down still. All access was really easy with the bed up and it looked amazing. The dump mechanism is apparently not as expensive as one may think. And pretty much the coolest thing ever. How could you not want a dump truck?

but basically yes kev, it will most likely have to be custom, whatever you decide to do.

Neat Idea, but customs okay. I have always thought that a checker board aluminum tool box that sits over the wheel well would be awesome. I store my spare over one wheel well already, its easy with a piece of chain bolted to the back seat mounts and the seat belt bolt. We'd better go for the bulk discount - a guy can hope.

Most of the Mitsubishi Canters I have looked at have a dump bed, well the ones I would consider for a camper conversion (2000kg load limit!). The only thing that saves a guy from blowing lottsa money cause he's not working, is the fact he's not working (Josh and I need to get a job Image). Duh. I need to go live in a cave or something. Hahaha. I really do miss not being able to 'tinker' for the last couple of years. Your young Adam, take care of your body - I always said it's better to break down then rust out - but being broken sucks.

Are you still in Kimberley? We (my son and I) plan to head out to explore the koot-knees Aug 13 to the 22nd, and I have never been to Kimberly. Maybe we could we could abuse our van's together. Hope that doesn't sound suggestive I hope, too many glasses of wine with the neighbors for me.

Cheers,
Kev - back outside to enjoy this sweet weather!

Kev that would be amazing if you came out here. My mom is coming out to visit from the 12th to the 24th or something, but that doesn't mean my weekends aren't very free still. My puppy and I would love to get out with another deli. Kimberley is the best place I have experienced in the kootenays. I can't say enough good things about kimberley (as long as you ignore that whole "bavarian city of the rockies" thing.) I am going to hike into haystack lake tomorrow, find a flat spot, pitch a tent and have some dinner, spend the night with my dog and my cousin, get up, have some breakfast, hike out, check out a 4x4 road and then be home for dinner. Not going to be a bad long weekend. All within an hours drive of home (mostly on dirt) You should definitely head out here kev, I would be more than happy to see you and put my back roads map book to good use. Where else were you planning on going? I can't think of anywhere better than kimberley.

P.S. Having a job is not all its cracked up to be.

Those camping plans sound sweet.
P.S. Having a job is not all its cracked up to be.
This is my first summer off ever.

Headed off to Pachena Bay and Port Alberni tomorrow, then maybe a follow up on Cortez Island. Or San Josh bay if I can't hook up with my friends. We'll get back into Powell River, clean up a bit then take off again. My son and I just try to get home for Randi's days off, in my house the girls work and the guys don't. :o

My plans weren't necessarily to boot around VI, but most everybody I know hangs there. Not that the Islands bad, but it's busy and I already have been there plenty. Powell River spoils a guy with its 'un-busyness', and once your, say 4-5 hours driving, away from the lower mainland you find that again.

I'll drop you a line before we go.

Regards,
Kev

Thanks Noel, I'm looking for something that'll fit in the bed of a ford short box and still allow a camper to be installed. Also he doesn't want to loss his spare. My idea was to use the ford's huge tank as the WVO tank, but maximum volume of both fuels is wanted for long trips.

Cheers,
Kev

Free to good home - WVO or diesel tank, this is from a 1985/6 Fiero and the in-tank pump is shot. Was to be a diesel tank for the 03 Ford, but have decided against it. It's 51" long at the seam and 11.5" deep; measuring from the piping to the bottom. This is only a guess but it seems to be about a 10 gallon tank.

I didn't want to just scrap it cause it's such a odd ball shape and may fit in 'places' other tanks can't. Preference will be given to those whom haven't dissed my advice in the past.

I like the shape of that, looks like it could go on the passenger side next to the tire cage.... might....I dont want it, but it could be a nice option if it fits for someone..
