It is built well, just needed some finishing when I sold it.
Yeah it looked pretty cool. It had lots of people checking it out but the seller didn't do much in the way of sales prep...it was dirty, tires were bald etc. I wanted to come back down and watch the auction...but like what seems to happen more and more each year...I forgot... :-D

OK I'll bite...

Other car.

E36 that started as a bone stock 325is it now has

18" OZ Superlegarra's, H&R cup kit with at 2.5" drop, Remus cat-back exhaust, Hella euro spec headlights with city bulbs, E46 hid bulbs & ballast, Full moulded Reiger body kit with E46 M3 front end, E46 fog lights, cold air intake, M3 moldings, m3 sideview mirrors with mercedes tunrsignals grafted in, four 10" subs with an 800W RMS Audioban class D amp, no trunk (full of fiberglass, plexi, lights and speakers)

THEN, I got serious about it. I got my hands on M3 calipers front and rear, front go on easy but in order to change the rears you need to change the entire back end of the car... so that's what I did! M3 rear subframe, M3 trailing arms, Euro spec M3 LSD (expensive!), Turner motorsports cross drilled rotors with Pagid track pads, stainless braided lines, M3 half shafts, M5 guibo, M3 front knuckles all new bearings all around and every bushing on the car is urethane.

All of that was in anticipation of an LS1 I was going to drop into it with a "mild" tuning of about 500 hp.... then I got my wife preggo (famous last words) So I LOVE Delica's and all the room they've got! You can drive over speedbumps, down ramps, you don't scoop up roadkill like a spoon and you don't cry as bad when you're kids throw up in them!

Other other car.

Before I got the Delica my kid hauler was a Subaru Loyale wagon. It was the lamest model they made, the 2wd with a 3 speed automatic. I bought it specifically so I WOULDN'T spend any money on it. It worked (more than I thought!) that has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned and seems to be indestructible. I hate it so much I have actually TRIED to kill it and it has yet to break down to the point it is un-drivable! I even broke a timing belt once (on purpose) and the damn thing did highway speeds on 2 cylinders! I spent $60 on a timing belt kit on E-bay and it's running smoother than when I bought it! (even after driving it at 80kph for about 10 kilometers!)

Image

My other other other car is a beat up Silvia S12 (not 13, 12 the really oldschool rare one nobody talks about) It's the CA18ET (single overhead cam turbo) engine one, 1988 the last year it was made with full independent suspension (not the most popular one for drifting, solid rear like in the AE86 is more popular). It was going to be made into a racecar at about the same time as I was starting the engine swap. It now sits quietly in storage...

This one is not mine, this was how it was SUPPOSED to end up!

Prior to getting my '92 P25, I had a Ford F250 as my renovation hauler... my wife called it the "farm truck". My economy daily driver was a '99 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe motorcycle and my 'fun' truck was and still is my 93 Chevy shortbox...

Will soon be selling the red truck to make space in the garage to restore my rare 19 foot '88 Questar Pilothouse boat which is kinda the Delica of boats... unusual, it's source of beauty is deep within and built very tough to handle what is thrown at it... (damn, couldn't upload pic).

To Profister's point.... I agree in that such a thread doesn't make much sense in a Delica Forum...

On the other hand... it's a bit of bragging and also curiosity on the part of the members that gets the interest in such a thread sparked...

The Kia Soul is my daily ride (unless I ride my bicycle to work - which I try to do as much as I can) - and the Delica is my wife's more or less regular daily ride...

As far as motorized vehicles are concerned, these are the ones I/we own... some of them are not licensed/insured right now (for example the Dodge Ram Van... if anybody is interested... it's for sale and it's cheap... it's got the awesome 225 slant six, which makes this Van certainly not the fastest - just a bit faster than the delica - but surprisingly frugal in fuel consumption and virtually maintenance free...):

@Impalator, how much $(USD) would you ask for the Dodge van?

I just picked up a 94 2.8 L Pajero (aka Goku).. Super clean!

It replaced my understanding that owning a vehicle in vancouver was a waste of money and time..... I enjoy the time in it and working on it and the money is just that ... Just money, whatever......

Obviously, I'm somewhat in the minority on this thread. My thinking has always been that money tied up in vehicles (generally a quickly depreciating asset) should be minimized. But whatever. It takes all kinds.

We have a 2005 Honda Civic that we bought new. That was our only car for four years. In the city, I was able to commute by bike or transit and left the Civic with my wife and two young sons. Saved a lot of money that way for our move out of the city.

When we moved to a small town and bought a quarter-section to build a house on things changed a bit. My commute to work actually became easier, 10 minutes by bike, but I started spending a lot of time on the weekends at our farm doing all kinds of projects. When I put some sheep and ducks on the property nearly daily trips out were required. At 35 minutes by bike, much of that on gravel, this was a little more than I could manage without being dog-tired by the end of the week. Moreover, cycling out doing a bunch of manual labour and then cycling back was more than my body could muster.

Eventually, I bought a 1992 Subaru Sambar kei-truck. That little truck was damn handy for the farm and freed up the Civic for my wife while I was at the farm. Even though the truck struggled to hit 100km/h on the highway, it was a pretty good fit. Then I switched to a job that required regular trips out of town, much more than I could possibly manage on bike and too much for the Sambar. I traded up to a 1991 super-charged Sambar. This little truck was better on the highway, but still really not very practical for long trips. My back began to hurt. Not one of my better decisions. And then the engine went on it. I've been trying to get it fixed up, time being the major obstacle.

That's when we bought the 1995 Delica L400. The idea being that I would take the Civic out of town and my wife would drive the Delica. That has worked well for us.

So our list would be 2005 Honda Civic, 1995 Delica L400, and non-functional 1991 super-charged Subaru Sambar.
