You can go to any inspection facility and get a lost or damaged decal replaced with the original expiry date, providing you have the original yellow owners copy of your inspection report. They should only charge you a small fee for the time it takes to fill out the paper work. This isn't that unusual, decals get lost with broken windshields and pressure washed off all the time so if you go to the facility that did the inspection it should be a piece of cake. If you go to a different facility with your yellow copy they may grumble a bit but they can do it too. I know we prefer not to re-inspect or re-issue decals from other facilities but we will do it if the option to go to the original shop is too inconvenient. If you don't have the yellow copy your best bet is to find out where it was inspected. The inspection facility is required to keep their green copy of the form on file. They can photo copy the form for you and issue a replacement decal.

ya know... I thought that too, until I tried to find one... I have yet to find a NA vehicle missing either side lights or reflectors... if you do, please let me know make/model/approximate year... everything that I've seen on the road DOES have them...Lot of N.A. vehicles don't have the sidelights so whats up.
Problem is, Transport Canada isn't making the rules, the provincial government is, as far as transport canada is concerned 15 years old is the only requirement. Everything beyond that is the provincial government making the decision, you'd have to talk to them...I called transport Canada and inquired about both the high mount brake light (which wouldn't hurt for the safety benefits) and side reflectors. They informed me, in a very matter of fact manner, that neither are required for my Delica. They did say that there may, in the near future, be a requirement for side reflectors.

Does have side reflectors? Do you mean that the turn signals and running lights are visible from the side. I keep looking out the window at the 3 year old Golf sitting under the streetlight down the block, all I see is a smooth expense of sheet metal and glass.a know... Pity they didn't get the diesel though.

The law does not require the turn signals to be visible from the side (that would only make sense!) only the running lights, and a reflector.Do you mean that the turn signals and running lights are visible from the side
The 2005 (about 3 years ago?) Golf has an orange reflector mounted just in front of the front wheel on the bumper, I bet it has a light in it too (only on with the parking lights)I keep looking out the window at the 3 year old Golf sitting under the streetlight down the block, all I see is a smooth expense of sheet metal and glass.
(unless they modified the vehicle with some body kit or something, then all bets are off!)

Cute James, bonbon, petite voiture mignonne .
Well the Golf doesn't have that front reflector and it does have a 'body kit' look to it, the options it came with are factory - or dealer installed. Not saying NA cars don't have em', just that there is exceptions around. If it means that they'll pick on my Delica instead of the buggy or mod'ed new cars then those of us driving around without side reflector should do some shopping. I don't want my trips being interrupted by an inspection ticket. Should be done to set a good example, but I have never been much of a good example.
Cheers,
Kev

I don't believe that citroen is a NA vehicle is it? I didn't know any were sold new over here...
if it is, than it's the first NA vehicle I've seen without the reflectors (and I've seen some older vehicles than that!)
Either way, it's been proven that the only thing inspectors look for before pulling over a vehicle is the seating position of the driver... so even though the rest of the world doesn't need to be compliant... WE do...
So bite the bullet and get yourself some reflectors...

No, the Citroen is not North American, but they were sold here for a few years way, way back. I've even found a few of the originals in desperate condition in the back woods of some homes. This one was imported from the Netherlands about 5 years ago and is completely original - except the galvanized chassis.
I agree Green1, most vehicles have reflectors on the side, usually built into wraparound lights - gotta look close though. Although I think some older Bugs don't have them either.
James
PS: the 2CV is even slower than the Delica, but with 2 cylinders, air cooled, 630 CC or so of raw french power what does one expect. But it is cheap to run so it goes on the road June 1.
