Thanks Sabbir, it's good to see that you're listening to customers and adjusting as required!
I should add to my post above, that I've had lots of help and courteous treatment from max overdrive.

Thanks for the responses to my hitch - I didn't mean to hijack this post.
Delicat - yes you're right, just a 1/4" or so had to be removed from the tabs where they butt against the torsion bar nuts. Fairly easily remedied, but I was expecting a straight bolt on hitch. And I will take your advice and upgrade the bolts - the tack welding seems like a great idea too.
And to Sabbir at max overdrive - thanks for the offer of the oil filters, I definitely appreciate the gesture. My comments weren't meant to be a complaint, more of an anecdote. If I wasn't happy with the hitch, I would definitely have contacted you. In fact, you'll probably see me again the next time I need parts.

One more thing on this hitch.
Although I replace all the bolts with hi-strength ones and torqued the hell out of those the hitch moves down when loaded. I bought a hitch carrier at Princess Auto, they are rated for 500lbs. (Same set up as Schawz on his avatar)
When I load it with a few cubes of oil the carrier drops down close to 6" at the back (loaded with 250lbs). It's because the hitch is made of 2 parts and there's play in it, no matter how much torque you apply. I'll have to grind the paint off and weld it in place so it doesn't drop down.
I guess these are the issues one has to deal with...

Is this E&H a local company in the Vancouver area? Is there any contact information for them? I'm ready to buy one.

glenn wrote:I just finished installing one of the maximum overdrive hitches for $380. It's pretty much as described earlier, plus it comes with a receiver and ball. It's very easy to install, bolts right on around the spare. Bolts both to the bumper and to the frame. There are flanges that have to be removed before it will fit properly. I was told they were going to be removed, then after waiting 20 mins was given a hitch - only to discover it wasn't done once I got it home?
at any rate, this hitch will serve me well, and if you don't mind being treated with indifference when you buy it, it's not a bad option.
Off topic: I saw it already on a few Delicas. Some of them had it on the roof. What is that in the red circle?

It is probably the TV antennae - I had one on either side of my van when i got it - got rid of them when I got rid of the Japanese stereo and TV.

Yes, TV antennae.

Yes, those are tv antennae. Like quadzilla, my van came with a useless-to-me Japanese stereo and tv with a Japanese cd rom based map system. State of the art in 1993 I'm sure. I haven't gotten around to taking them off yet.

I'm looking for an LWB L400 hitch. (I understand that Maximum's for $380 is SWB only.) Also, can I keep the shinny bumper? (On the van, that is...

)

Try E&H Hitch. They work on tons of Delica's. No, you won't be able to keep your shiny bumper on wit the hitch (E&H has a huge pile of them).

Mararmeisto - you said what I was just thinking. Man, my L300 was nice back then.
