Too many other threads with the same topic : backspacing/offset what size rims/tires can I run ?

I would like to keep the current tire size 235/75/15, but would just like to change my wheels (rims) to the black offroad looking style.
I've searched these threads up and down and haven't seen or don't understand what i'm looking for.
By what I gather my current "teardrop" rims are 15x6, 6x139.7 (6-5.5"), correct?
So, I can't seem to find "offroad" type rims that are 15x6.
Would it be ok to use 15x7 or even 15x8 with the "normal" 235/75/15 tires?

Just out of curiosit what is a "offroad looking style"?

235/75R15 are good on 6" and 7" wide rims.

fexlboi; For "offroad style", I just mean plain black steel rims ( but not winter rims ). Nice glossy black ones. I can't seem to find them in 15x6. So will 15x7 and/or 15x8 be ok with 235/75/15?

As I said, 15x7 is fine, but 15x8 is too wide.

That doesn't mean its good. There is a reason why tire companies give a range of rim width for tire sizes. 8"+ is not in the specs.

Thanks Felix. I guess i'll stick to 15x7. Very Helpful!

I did think about painting them, but thought for the price I could just get new rims. I didn't realize that you could powder coat them for $30/rim (compared to $60/rim for new ones). But i'll have to look around here in Ontario, the price may vary.

Bumping an old thread after getting q's regarding the different mixed labeling between companies selling wheels

Here is an excellent link that describes backspacing/offset, the difference between the two and the numeration companies use. Some use the term backspace and others use the label -12 B.
