I have the gasket from my old broken turbo. Just to check, it is for this area?

I just want to thank everyone for your help. I don't know what I would do without the forum. The newly minted turbo is back in (special thanks to jrodger for the gasket) and the truck is running better than ever. I cleaned the intercooler of oil and compressor wheel fragments as well as all the intake piping. I installed an EGR blanking kit, and also installed a carbing 0.6L catch can for good measure. I posted a pic of the can install if anyone was intereseted.
Thanks again everyone.

Watch those catch can hoses carefully. I had the same ones on mine and they melted and developed a kink that stopped airflow and caused every seal in my oil system to be blown out.

I was just reading up on catch can issues due to inlet and outlet diameters. I just removed the couplings and squeezed the hoses over the stock breather outlet and intake inlet to keep the inside diameter the same throughout. What type of hoses should I use instead?

These diesels run hotter than the gas engines the hoses are meant to be used with. You want the black hoses that have a higher heat rating (I don't know what the minimum rating is though, but the guys at Lordco knew what I needed when I went in there).

So I've pretty much abandoned the catch can idea for now. I went to my local parts source and bought some 3/4 / 19.1mm fuel hose made by thermoid. Seems like its the right stuff, only problem is the inlet and outlet on my can is only 1/2". I am worried about the added pressure of going down a 1/4" doing a number on my valve cover gasket.
Is that step down to much or going to cause problems?
What sort of Catch Cans do you guys use?
So for now I have reconnected the stock system using the new piping, as I foolishly cut the factory one up during my first attempt. Hopefully with the fresh turbo and the blanked EGR I won't have as much blow-by anyways.

Glad this has worked out now. Do you notice a performance increase with the fresh turbo?

I didn't push it too hard the first day, but it ran smoother than ever. I couldn't tell you how much the turbo is a factor because I also did the egr delete and intercooler cleanout at the same time. Also the next day I put on new rims and 32" M/Ts . The truck feels good, the bigger wheel size seems to keep me at a lower RPM most of the time, so I'm not on heavy boost much. On the highway at 100km (which is probably more like 110 now) I am at about 2500 rpm, where before I was closed to 3000. I'm still a bit weary to stomp on it till I know everything is nice and worked in. I defiantly feel the difference when accelerating off the line due to these bigger wheels. It almost feels like a slight lag. Because my tach only works about 25% of the time its hard for me to know at what point exactly the boost is coming on strong. I really need to get a boost gauge in here. All in all I am happier with the truck now, than ever.
