Also most jdm part dealers (japanoid, amazing, maxoverdrive, etc) have all maintenance parts in stock.
Simply visit their website and look for them.

wow, that is pricy, especially for fram. you should be able to pick up a donaldson from napa or a baldwin for half that price for a better filter.

I picked up a Fram PH3976A filter for my bypass unit (will not fit a Delica without modification) and it was $13 from Lordco. Considering the one I have is larger and is constructed in the same way I find it silly that your would be $54. I suppose it all comes down to supply and demand rather than cost to create.

Just wondering if any of you Albertans or people east of BC have found a local supplier for a fuel filter. I was going to do the direct to the pump Sea Foaming but I just don't feel up to that. Did you have to order a filter from the coast? Thanks

They are sticklers to get the part right. Just need to add on the Ackland's extension.

I did a little digging into oil filters for the L400. I found the Baldwin filter B7121 crosses over to the 4M40 engine. It's a little longer and fatter than the BD7095. It also has a bypass valve. This is a good thing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If the gasket is the same and seals then yes. Depends on cost. I've seen the BD7095 for $16.

I paid $52 for the new fuel filter. Kind of steep but it will work and it is local so I can go pick one up when I need one. Interesting take on this part of the world: I rolled up to the Acklands in Nisku (most of the rig work in Northern Alberta kind of centers here) in my Delica and my little girl in my arms. Got some weird looks from all the rig pigs . Just because I don't have a million dollar wasteful account there and I am hauling around my little one means I don't need parts too I guess. Whatever.

Thanks delicioso! for the great write up AND PICTURES! I am a very visual learner so it helped alot. I performed this procedure today and experienced success....so far. You were not kidding about it being slightly(?) awkward to put a primed filter back through the maze of wires and plastic. What a pain in the ass! Done and dusted though. I tried to JB Weld the broken battery tray holes but I heard them snap as I tightened it. It was worth a shot.
