Some cars came stock with a "T-fitting" for this purpose. Just locate a car with both a light and gauge and look for the fitting.

Thanks again, yes the people at new line fittings are the best I was there les then 2 minutes.
All I can say what a difference all the gage's work.
And it looks very cool.
The part number is N5602-02-02
1/8 MNPT X 1/8 FNPT X 1/8 FNPT TEE
And is only 3.26
Cheers
hi, just saw this thread, and need some real time help! does that part number for the T fitting then mean that it's a 1/8th inch thread size? this is for a bypass system for my l400 and we're using a T off the oil sensor just under the intercooler. hope anyone can chime in!

I just added a pressure gauge to my L300 and it was a bit of a pain... I bought a 1/8 27 NTP Tee but discovered some issues... It appears the OEM sensor is actually M10 x 1mm thread (which is close but a little smaller than 1/8 27 NTP). I manually filed down the threads on the male part of the T and got it to fit but it was a pain (hoping it holds).

To revive an old thread instead of starting a new one....
Just looking for clarification on the thread size/pitch for the pressor sensor. M10 or 1/8"? I don't have a place to drain my own oil so my mechanic will be putting a gauge pressor sensor in for me teed off the low oil sensor. I just want to make sure I have the appropriate tee fitting for him.

Always good to revive old threads but one thing I'd like to point out is this thread is in L300 Technical, with the 4D56 motor. Your wagon has the 4M40 engine, yes? I'd imagine the specs could be different. Perhaps the details might be similar or the same even ~ but I think it would be prudent to take this into consideration and double check.
- *Another place you (or your mechanic) might find the information you require would be in the L400 Dedicated Category Reference Forum/L400 Shop Manual Downloads.
*Also check the Delica FAQ Section/Useful Links for Vehicle Part Identification Purposes. There are links to Parts Lists that have exploded diagrams for visual recognition that will give you both the PNC# as well as the OEM#. With that information you can get spec details and cross references.
Hope this helps... smiles.
Falco.

Unless you are planning to install it with the engine running no oil will come out.... only oil if the motor is running....
If you pull out the old fitting and take it to an automotive parts store they can check the threads...
Any decent mechanic should be able to do this without supplied parts...

GTFO here!! Really?? I did not know that. So, that's why the oil light turns on when you turn the key on before you start a vehicle? Because there's no oil at the oil pump?

engine turns the oil pump so engine no turn no oil pressure... the pressure reading is above the pump so if you take it out you might get a few drops but no major oil spill (no Exxon Valdez spill)....
People often think that oil light tells them you need to add oil.... nope if it lights up from oil starving the motor will be toast already... pressure gauges are handy.... I would put a tee fitting in so you can keep the oil light as you do not always notice a gauge when it gets low but an oil light you should see...

For some reason I thought the oil sensor was on the oil pan... Explains why I couldn't find it. I'm planning on putting a tee on, handy to have the light incase the gauge goes unnoticed.
You don't think having that honkin' pressure sensor bouncing around off a tee could create premature wear on the tee or threads? I guess you could bullhead the tee to reduce any stress...

I would use a remote fitting kit, I wouldnt trust that weight hanging off of there. It would be ironic if you fitted a guage to keep an eye on your oil pressure and the act of fitting it to the vehicle was the cause of catastrophic oil pressure loss. If it is fitted remotely, remember to fit it remotely to another part of the engine, not elsewhere in the engine bay.

I've got an account at a hose suppliers, I could get them to make a short hydraulic hose with 1/8" threads on either end. That way there's fewer joints as well. Hmmm. Food for thought.

Ok. Here's the rub. On our 4m40 motors that sensor is under the intercooler. Easy access. The difficult thing is that it uses British pipe thread different than the l300. I have plans to put my old oil bypass filter on it at some time soooo if you get one made up get two. I'll buy the other. [img]
