Was just under my 94 Paj and noticed this hose coming from the rear axle diff and goes into a round cross member, anyone know what this is for?
Thanks
Joe

Re: lets play "whats this hose for?"
Hey,
Its a Breather hose for the differential.
I have heard it recommended to move the
hose and put one of those cheap inline fuel filters
On it (the 2 to 5 dollar kind, clear plastic withe the orange
paper in it)
The reason being the tube its attached to fills with crap and rust over time.
Right On!

Just be a little careful if replacing that hose, it's up high to prevent water getting into the axle housing if you were to drive through a river. Replacing it with a regular air filter means your axle is at risk of ingesting water or mud.
From the state of your axle it looks like your Paj is no stranger to deep mud and water.
**edit** ok so I just learned to read. Sounds like you're going to leave the hose where it is and simply insert a fuel filter into it. Good plan.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Its the aftermath from the winter/spring just about warm enough to do some spring cleaning! cant wait for that.
Thanks sounds like a good idea to put a filter inline there.

if you suspect it is cracked or leaking, drop the diff oil and replace. Water contaminates the oil in a bad way.

I'm planning on changing the oil in both the front and rear diff this spring, along with a old man emu lift kit for a small lift but mainly for better handling as the stock shocks are getting weak.
