Re: Hermione's Makeover
I would recommend replacing the hose with appropriately rated for temperature in the engine compartment and exposure to oil. AFAIK that nylon braided stuff is for low temps and water.

Looks like the spot for the catch can is the best place to put it.

Re: Hermione's Makeover
It should be the appropriate hose, it came with the catch can and is specifically made for this application.RichD wrote:I would recommend replacing the hose with appropriately rated for temperature in the engine compartment and exposure to oil. It seems to be out of the way. The downside is that it's extremely difficult to mount. It took about 2 hours of swearing to finally get it in place.1994delicaman wrote:Looks like the spot for the catch can is the best place to put it.

Re: Hermione's Makeover
Awesome so far, love the T shirt!
That catch can hose does look an awful lot like the stuff RichD is talking about.
I use it for moving Veg oil around but I had to change it out in the places that took
any heat at all.It became very soft and melted a bit in sections, not more than 70c to have this effect.
If you observe it getting soft after a drive I would change it out for
something more resilient.
By soft I mean like fresh "gummy bear" soft, if you
don't have any fresh gummy bears to compare
you should get some, they are awesome...
Lots of Pics from the tranny cooler job I hope!
Right On!

I'll keep an eye on the hose as well (it seems to be the standard for catch cans so maybe most engine bays are cooler!?)

Re: Hermione's Makeover
I spent the afternoon at CVI installing my transmission cooler. After a small leak I replaced the hose and all was good. I'm not noticing anything different about the cooler but am trusting that it will provide better cooling when I head down south. At the moment it is just a larger version of what I had before and will get it wired up soon (among many other things) so if you're reading this Jay, expect a call very soon.
I was hoping to get Butch to replace the injectors as well but it looks like that will have to wait for another day. It's all coming together hopefully just in time for my trip!

Re: Hermione's Makeover
Butch ordered a hose for me. It fit into the stock holder using the hardware provided but it was definitely a ghetto solution. I'll be making a mud flap to block it from dirt thrown off the wheel.jfarsang wrote:so you did find a longer hose. good !

Re: Hermione's Makeover
Update on the catch can hose comment: Just today I saw a fuel grade hose that looks a lot like the water grade hose so the picture may in fact be deceiving.
