35km, but I hit a pick that was full of bricks. The roof was cut out by the fire department.

I saw a similar one except she hit at 50km/hr approx and it crunched the whole footwell area on the passenger side. She hit a Tacoma pickup from the rear. Fortunately there was no one in the passenger seat otherwise below the knees would have been gone.

For the most part, L300's are good? in accidents but there are some horrible one's out there that don't make it on the forum. Ice and corners are the worst causes. Most are found flipped on their side.

Ouch. If that seatbelt had held you'd probably be ok, your poor wee Deli doesn't look *critically* deformed.

I think it's probably a blessing that the Delica isn't the quickest van out there- I had a number of near misses in my supercharged MR2, but in the Deli I'm happy to just bumble along at a pleasant pace, leaving plenty of space and taking my time at intersections. The complete inability to overtake anything, ever, has got to be a lifesaver too.

Maybe it's time to replace my seat belts.

just to clarify, you hit headon, went flying into the passenger side and partially out the door window and the van flipped on its side on top of you?

i hit a pick-up full of bricks that blew through a stop sign. I hit the box from the side, sent the van up into an endo where it spun on its noise then landed on the passenger side with my head out the window and slid a few feet. i was pinned under it for 30 min, my head being crushed between the top of the door and the street. Im home now healing up feeling very lucky heh.

Icbc will always try to give you less than they should. Take the highest priced L300's you can find from a dealer and show those to ICBC then see what they will offer.

Sounds like a very scary experience! Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery.

That is what I was going to say- start high. First rule of selling anything is to start with a price higher than what you actually want. The other side will always offer less. Start at 11,000 and then when the think they are lowballing you at 10, say thank you!

icbc is tring to low ball me hard... they are saying that half the cost of a delica is importing and safety. They want to take 6k off the price, what is the arrearage cost of just the import fees? i though it was more around $1500.

don't accept that. you have a bad adjuster and he/she is out to lunch.

It is not their job to let you know how it would cost you to import your own vehicle.

What was spent importing the van is irrelevant.

What is relevant is the replacement cost to get a similar L300 in your hands. This is what ICBC uses. What would it cost to replace your vehicle today in the same condition it was the day it was written off.

go through craigslist and the dealer sites. print out copies of the latest L300's in similar shape as your was.

That's ridiculous. Do adjusters get to take off the cost of transporting GMs from Detroit into Canada when looking at vehicle value? You're making your claim in Canada, the cost of replacing your vehicle includes the cost of transporting it from where it was made to where you are, just like any other vehicle that's not made in Canada.
