cylinder leak down test results

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

cylinder leak down test results

Post by strada-caster »

Hey, I know my truck is a little low on power, it has been for a while. I was able to do the following this weekend.

reset valves: they were bang on from last year except for cyl4, .002in high
done warm, set to .010in

compression test
done warm
cyl1 425
cyl2 415
cyl3 405
cyl4 435

leakdown test
done last(~ 2 hours after shutdown, was in a heated garage though), so still a warm block
cyl1 10% no noise, couldn't really tell where any air was coming from
cyl2 18% noise, air leakage from crankcase (dipstick tube)
cyl3 18% noise, air leakage from crankcase (dipstick tube), and from intake (a tiny bit)
cyl4 9% noise, could tell it was coming from the crankcase.

looking for a little insight. what are the upper most limits to the leakage rate?
does anyone have results from their engine?
any others comments?

Very comparable results...
Did you do the testing to set a baseline figure of where your engine was at?
or because you were trying to solve an issue?

Did your findings make you think the engine needed work? or were you happy with those?

Just did it as a baseline out of curiosity.

It was close to a few user's on the russian delica forum back then so I was happy with it.

Ok, that makes me think my power is missing because of something other than engine internals.

I have yet to do the re-re of the IP, but I haven't done that yet because the shop that did my injector nozzles said it was acting perfectly normal.
