plant drive tanks 45 vs 60

Post by Frisch »

I was just looking at the plant drive kits and they offer tanks included. Would either of the 45L and 60L tanks fit nicely under the delica. Any news on the aluminum one from enviroimports (Cost, Size, availability)?

Unless Noel has changed his mind he wasn't selling the tanks separately from the kits last time I inquired. I know EricN ended up designing and fabricating his own tank, not sure if he's interested in doing more of them or not. I ended up buying a a Jeep Wrangler 20Gal tank from a wreckers for $80. I haven't been able to mount it under my van in the spare tire spot yet, but that is the plan eventually, if I can make it fit. That means I have to find a new spot for my spare. If I lived on the mainland and wasn't shackled to the ferry system I'd just through it on top, but I can't afford the overheight charges, so I'm looking for a rear bumper sing gate style solution. Right now the tank fits nicely behind the rear row of seats and give me pretty good range.

The really nice thing about EricN's tank set up is that he doesn't have to relocate his spare and he still gets decent fuel capacity. Tempo tanks might be another option. I think Sean was looking into them, but I'm not sure if he ended up going with a salvaged fuel tank or not:

And of course the grandaddy of all posts that got it started for me by Kevin (BCDelica) uses a 15 Gal Wrangler tank.

Image Thanks for the photos of other tanks. That is what I had originally thought I'd be doing (getting an old tank and re-fitting it). Any thoughts on this plant drive 60L tank - it seems it would come with the kit anyway, and it has the coolant fed tank heater worked in somehow (according plantdrive.ca).
