Sizable oil leak:

Well, looks like I have two oil leaks.

> The cam shaft oil seal is leaking a fair bit. I was hoping to do another 20 K or so before needing to get timing done again but looks like I need to do the seals and timing belts etc. need to come off.

> Second leak is a lot messier. Looks like its at the oil pump somewhere. The pump is working, thats easy to confirm.

I guess it could be the oil seal. I have to do a closer inspection but looks like a hose coming from the oil pump area? Could be leaking there? Not sure thats where the hose is going.

Not sure where the common oil pump leaks would be. I'm sure some of you have come across this.

> Also looks like my transfer case drain bolt is seized and someone previously rounded the bolt head. I'm guessing this shouldn't be too hard to find?

Off to get messy under the vehicle ! Oil leaks are not fun !

Depending on the year of your Pajero, there may not be an oil feed to your alternator.

Also, if you have a turbo, check the oil return from the turbo (on the underside) - I think that's where mine is a little drippy right now (gotta pull off the skid plates to confirm). A mechanic friend said it's hardly ever the supply to the turbo, almost always the return.

Was under there yesterday. I don't think there is a oil line to alt. It appears to go up past it & up over engine.

It looks like it might be the garden hose size line thats about 6-8 inches long from pan to oil pump? Looks like the one clamp might have slid down an not be compressing against and metal. Going to try & replace clamps if I can get my large hands in there!.

Either was it will be very messy. Need a good degreasing now.

The oil sump on the back of the alternator is the vacuum source for the brake booster. That's it.

OK, looks like leak is a crack in the 6" garden size hose going to the vac. pump. Hose seems pretty hard and a little short actually.

#1. anyone know the diameter of this hose?

#2. does it have to be a special hose? Don't see any other hose on vehicle that looks like it.

the tight bend the factory hose might be best.

If you do go after market make sure it is oil rated (some rubber disolves in oil) and you might need a 90 degree fitting.

There was a thread on replacing that hose recently.

Isn't the thread about the smaller long hose with the banjo bolt though? Not the fat short hose with compression clamps? Seems to me the fat short one should be available anywhere, just need diameter, 45* bend, oil resistant, cut to length.

The thin longer hose seems like it has to be a specific item.

If anyone knows diameter that would be great.

Am I missing something?

Just as you said...oil resistant hose maybe a 45 fitting and clamps. Sorry I cannot help with size. If you loosen the house off a little you should be able to fit calipers to measure the size of the pipe at each end where it attaches.
