Cold starts.. have to say it

Post by Firesong »

Fantastic!
Left the L300 in the cold for 10 hours
-22 C and it caught and started immediately,
no dragging at all!

2 strong batteries, 5-40 Synthetic oil
and good karma maybe?

Nice taking it to work and feeling good about
going back to it.
Was moving snow all day in the cold.
It was fun!

p.s. Im not sure why Im surprised every winter,
maybe my memory is crappy :)

Started mine up an overnight of -20. The van was not happy about it. Duel batteries, 15 40 oil (most likely the problem). But she did start...after a few cranks and some choice words. But I live on the coast,, so i don't need to worry about -20 starts. This was a special occasion.

My cold starts are rough, -20 and it will turn and fire alright...but, it will smoke and idle like a bastard for quite a long time until I can bump the idle up. What is the proper technique for cycling the plugs multiple times? I get the standard first cycle, but I can't get as proper second cycle, just a very fast two clicks...
