Coolant Drain / Refill

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Coolant Drain / Refill

Post by sigurross »

Going to tackle changing my coolant this weekend.

Just wanted to confirm that this is the coolant drain plug on the engine:

Also, I'm going to buy some NAPA brand antifreeze for the job, should that do the trick? I know a lot of you recommend using Mopar brand from the dodge dealership. The dealership is close to NAPA so it won't be much of a hassle to pick some up, just might be a little more expensive ($22 for 4 litres). Is the Mopar stuff really that much better?

Thanks

You may not have this issue, but here's a post I just put on another topic regarding lack of heat from our heaters.

"After a lot of money and frustration having most of my cooling system serviced, it came down to this realtively simple fix: Coolant flush. Not coolant change, as in draining coolant and adding more, but the pressurised full system flush. Even though my coolant was changed a few months ago, when I took it in for an oil change last week, the coolant came out looking dirty. Went for their system flush- lots of crap came out, and we now have hot air from the vents!"
