Just got an L300 and I'm stoked!

Post by Tojo »

Hello all,

I'm a proud new owner of a 1993 L300 Super Exceed, SWB, LSD, crystalite, with Nokian Vatiivas on aftermarket rims and a few other upgrades including seat covers from Japan with a super crazy pattern. I plan to head into the snow this year, so I got some dedicated snow tires on another set of rims and I can't wait to test it out in 4WD!

First thing that I must do is give big ups to all the members who posted excellent information and helped me to figure out what to look for when purchasing. I look forward to many years of delica-touring as well as being able to contribute to this forum. As a product designer with CAD (computer aided design) skills I think there will come a time when there is something custom or something rare that needs to be fabricated for the Delica, and that is where I can help out. An exciting development is the ability to rapid prototype custom stainless steel parts which can be tapped, drilled and stressed and perform very closely to a part that uses a more conventional form of mass production...but I digress.

A bit about myself. I've spent a total of 3 years in Japan on 4 separate trips. One of those stints was in 1993 where I got to ride in brand new Delicas! That planted the seed, but at that time the new Delica's were very expensive to purchase on the Japanese market and I had to wait awhile before finally getting one of my own.

I look forward to meeting you at the meets.

Cheers,
Tojo aka Bruce

ps. Tojos used to be my favorite sushi place in Vancouver, but now I can't afford to go there, ha!

You're right that your CAD skills will be an asset when creating custom parts. I've used mine to design roof racks, skid plates, my partially Campari Ed interior and sub boxes. I can't wait to see what you'll cone up with.
Hope to see you at this months meet. 8-)
