No, there is no Delica in the yard.... yet.
Here is where I'm coming from:
I drive a 07 Subaru Impreza for commuting and errand-running types of jobs. It is a great car but... I am 6'2" with a long torso which means my head is grazing the ceiling all the time and my knees start to ache after not much more than an hour. But I wanted something smaller for parking lots and all-weather capability while I had work done on my other ride....
My 02 Dodge 2500. Quad cab, short box, 4wd, and a few goodies helping to produce close to 500hp. It ain't pretty by any stretch but it is a hoot to drive and very comfy for me. I went from here in Abbotsford to Vacaville CA in one 14hr day with a car trailer behind. I was kinda wobbly but pain free and could have kept going.
Anyways, I had first seen what I now know to be a Delica in Switzerland in '94. It really struck a cord with me, and I never forgot it. Then I saw a few in Norway in '03. More drooling.
Now I see Delicas all around and think I might need to sell the Subi. So I am here to learn and maybe become a Delica owner. If no one has any objections, I'd like to drop by the "meet" at Ikea and get up close and personal... with the Delicas. And I promise not to drool.

Please drop by Ikea and have a seat in a few Delicas there are a few bigger owners (I tower over 5 feet! Just)
You might be more an L400 driver as it comes the closest to 500hp (still falls way short of 500HP)

Ha! Coming from 500hp to an L400, you (OP) might have the same feeling I had when I went from my first car (Datsun 280Z with goodies) to a '78 Honda Civic with an engine that turned out to be on the way out.thedjjack wrote: You might be more an L400 driver as it comes the closest to 500hp (still falls way short of 500HP)
When I first pulled away in the Honda, I truly thought something was disconnected in the drivetrain. "Why is this thing making so much noise but we ain't moving fast?"

My brother-in-law is 6'2" and claims that my low-roof works OK for him when he's driven it, but if you don't have parkade height clearance problems, you might want to consider a hi-roof. Around 6'8" from the ground to the top of the roof in stock form and freakin' cavernous inside by modern car standards IMHO.

Re: Another new guy...
I am living out your exact situation! I tto previously drove a 07 Subaru Imprezza Sport Wagon. We then had a kid and I quickly realized that it was no fun trying to squeeze a family into a car I barely fit in myself (I am 6'2). So we looked at mini-vans and I realized how much I hate NA mini-vans (Price! and Quality), so after months of convincing my wife, we bought a 1994 L400 SpaceGear with Crystal-lite Roof. As it is, I fit into it just fine, not too big and not too small with lots of head room, and we have craploads of room for all my daughters junk! There is quite a noticable difference in power coming from an Imprezza but it is still quite nice. You can still blow past several vehicles

Thanks for the info. This is why I joined this site.
Regarding the height, do the high roofs fit into the lower level at YVR? Without the canopy, my truck squeaks in at 6'7". Just curious.

Re: Another new guy...
See you at the meet. Meantime, You are welcome to bring the family to our house, I give you the key, and you crawl all over my deli, yr daughter makes a cozy nest in the back seat, you drive it around the block (we live on a big hill so you will quickly learn that I usually only pass cement trucks). I have L300, high roof, captains chairs not bench for 2nd row, and our rear bench has been replaced by wooden camping box / bed.
I know the heights for L300, not L400. L300 high roof is 7 foot exactly, with 29 inch tires, and NO lifts. L300 low roof is 6 foot 6, so go super slow underground so you dont' bounce.
Christine.

Thanks for the offer, Christine. If I was closer, I would take you up on it. However, the "meet" is only a week and a half away, so I'll wait until then.
