L400 decals

Post by VanVonVan »

Hello Everyone,

So after test driving(thanks again mr dueck/Rudy) I have decided on getting a L400 SWB in the spring(trying to get my windstar to last one more winnipeg winter). Now the questions I have are is it hard to find a Super exceed with the middle bench, crystal light roof and crazy decals? I have seen some that have really cool (to me) decals but most are just plain painted vans. Was it some sort of special option to get 4WD with bright colours on the delica?

Thanks,

Russell

I believe you could get some neat looking decals on the Chamonix. That came with optional cl roof and a bench seat. If they're anything like the l300 I don't think the superexceed has the bench. What are the reasons for wanting the super version? Just the name?

As far as I know, the crystal lite was never offered with the middle bench seat. I may be mistaken, but that was the combination I was after when I bought both my l400s. That being said, I have converted both my super exceed crystal lite l400's to 8 seaters. There are probably alot of legal issues that could arise from this, but I feel secure with the way the conversion was done (which was not cheap). As for decals, I have no idea. If you can make it out near Dauphin, you are more than welcome to check them out. One is a green lwb and the other is a white swb. Who knows, I may be looking to upgrade one or two of them by spring.

I know the chamonix (which I would really like to know how to pronouce btw) has some of the coolest graphics. I like the super version because it has the cl, I had no idea the chamonix came with cl now this changes everything. I have read a whole bunch of posts about the different models and from what I can understand the chamonix is a "lower" model. Does it have the same options as a super?

You can pretty much get any option on any of the vehicles. There are even some Exceeds out there with cl roof and more extra's that the super. I'm not sure why one would have chosen that route. I assume it was cheaper to order a different model than to upgrade a lower end model.

From the web: sh ah m oh n ee

It is named after the ski area in France....In 100mile I had a lady for Chamonix so happy to see her home town on our van!

Chamonix is not a lower model...typically it is upper model for the "all season skier" according to my stickers....
It typically has:
-tougher fabric and rugs
-winter package -two battery, LSD, hand throttle
-middle bench (all middle benches are still 7 passanger)

My 1989 L300 is nicer than any SuperExced I have ever seen :-D

Most SuperExced owners spend $$$$$ trying add roof baskets, batman wheels, speakers, cargo boxes...just trying to be as cool as a Chamonix....

There is also the Jasper which typically was a sport model for the "outdoor player"

Almost guys after starting out in a Chamonix or bluespew as we call them (carpet reference) they are indeed the workshorse snow pack in blue. The Jasper is the same in green (Jasper ala ski resort closer to your guys in the Rockys I believe) and yes both have dual batteries for cold starting and some have LSDas well as demisters in the front windscreen and side glass as well. In the series 3 99-2002 diesel the Chamonix had LSD this as standard. My last van was a 2002 20th Anniversary Diesel

The decals can be bought new and they are snow spashes up the van. In the BLUESPEW there are 2 types a earlier version which you have in Canada and then the 96 version similar but different.

Much later on 98-99 the Chamonix goes white or black and has a map decal of Mt Blanc.

Prices can be obtained with shipping upon request (old cars in japan the prices keep climbing annually form MMC)

Image is also another one...a wee bit small for us round eyes..

So not with the Michael Jackson "SHA-mon". As in "SHA-mon Nicks". No? It's just me that does that? O.K. :(

I'm glad to see I'm in the back of your mind. :-D My SuperExceed does come with LSD, dual batteries, it has seat covers and rubber flooring so the only real difference is the paint (which is another difference that I don't think came as an optional extra). 8-)

My seats all say Chamonix and it is so sexy I have to carry a stick to keep the people away!!!

The Chamonix is way sexier...Not even batman wheels can fix this fact. :-D

So even if i go with a chamonix with cl it will not have a bench. The whole reason is I really like how the middle bench spins around and gives a whole bunch of room.(Compared I believe by Jfarsang to the captain's chairs)

From what I have seen off delica trader is that most L400 chamonixs are a low roof version. Is it super rare with cl's or has no one just brought them in.

Jason I have talked to you before on the phone a couple of times I believe last may and dauphin is just a little too far to drive for me but if you are ever in Winnipeg or somewhere kind of half way I would love to meet up and see another deli.

I am scheduled for am mri of my knee Dec 12 in Winnipeg, hoping to get called in sooner. As far as the cl and 8 seater combination, I may be wrong, but from 2007-09, I researched the l400 alot on the uk and aus forums. I personally spoke to 4 well established dealers/importers in the uk, and 5 in aus. All told me the same thing, cl and middle bench were two options that were never offered together. Not to say that they were all correct, or chances are pretty good I am not the first person in history to convert one to suit my taste/needs. I can tell you that the 8 seater l400s are 8 seaters (seat belts for all) and the l300s I've seen 94 and up also have seat belts for all eight. I'm sure I still have your number(I don't know anyone else named Russel, and it is saved in my phone) So when I'm in for my mri, I'm sure I will have some wait time.
