Heater not blowing hot

If you plan to do a cooling system flush knowing that the heater core is suspect blocked, you run the risk of that stuff ending up somewhere else in there.
Best thing to do is to pull the hoses off the heater core box and do the garden hose in out and reg hose out to a bucket for the other or have a shop do it. This will eliminate any crud from the heater core plugging up the rest of your cooling system (thermostat/rad).

I've searched the forum but can't find the location of the heater core/hoses

Do I need to remove any skid plates underneath to get at the hoses?

An L400 owner is having a similar issue except with a leaking heater core.

You may be better off taking it to a rad shop and having them recondition the core. Just another option.

A quick stop at Glens in Coombs, on your next Island trip, would sort out both blower location and replacement cost>

so the problem was, i didnt have the right tool! i went to canadian tire in powell river and asked mutt and jeff (you may remember them from http://www.delica.ca/forum/canada-tire- ... -2789.html ) for the DELICA WHACK MASTER. they had one for the L300 and one for the L400.

actually, thats not true.
but i did figure out exactly where the blower motor was and gave it a good whack, and guess what? it freakin works! not that great, but i guess itll do for now.

so HERE is the blower! look behind the curved plastic that is on the floor in the middle (the one with the 3 metal clips), and look UP a little and you will see a motor!



i thought the curved plastic housed the motor, i discovered the heating core is in there....

well anyway, if somebody searches blower motor, at least now theyll get a photo of it

So I did find it myself, the heater core hoses location on the L300 is underneath the front skid plate, near the horn.

I found the two garden-hose sized hoses going up to the firewall, where the connection is made (the actual heater core is inside the van, beyond the firewall)

Removing the hoses was the hardest part, I question if they'd ever been removed before, as they were stuck/sealed onto the heater core tubes. An old butter knife with the end bent over helped get things loosened up.

I flushed both hoses out, and then flushed both ways on the heater core itself.

At this time I can't say for sure if there's been an improvement or not (didn't take it van for a drive after) but I did let the her run for a while and once it warmed up it was blowing at a good temp - hotter than before, unsure atm.


I am going to partially shield the main radiator for the winter, to help with the heat issue, has anyone else done this?
