27 Series Battery -- Brand, Model, Size?
OK. So I've figured out that if I'm going to replace my 2 dead (or dead-ish) batteries in my L300, then I'm going to need a single 27 series battery. Can anyone here tell me what brand, model, and size of battery I need? Understand, please, I don't want options or different ways of doing it or whatever; I've determined that this is what I'm going to do, it needs to be done soon, and I need a single answer. Just the name of a battery and it's specs so I can go into Lordco or wherever and just buy one. Thanks.

I'm sorry. 16 views already, no replies, I'd just like to apologize for my tone in the original post. I do really need some help here... anyone? :(

Re: 27 Series Battery -- Brand, Model, Size?
Might be best if you just went to something like a Battery Stop and asked for replacement batteries that are the correct physical size (the ones that came with your van are a little smaller than North American sizing) and the correct CCAs. Not sure what amperage, but the battery shop should be able to figure it out.
Because the batteries are connected in parallel, you don't get more voltage, just more current (that is, you can crank for longer).
When changing the batteries, be mindful of the fusible links in the battery compartment. If they are deteriorated enough, moving them may break them. You'll want to be mindful of that (i.e. it should be pointed out to whomever is changing your batteries).

I bought mine from Napa. It's their HD heavy duty line. If you are going to Lordco, ask if you can see what grp 27 batteries they have in the back in stock. If your wallet agrees, get the one with the highest cranking amps.
Tell them it's for a diesel and you want their best heavy duty group 27 battery and see what thy provide. If it's too hard on the wallet, go the next step down.
Make note of the position of the positive and negative terminal posts on your old battery andthe new battey before you buy the new battery.
I have had good experience with Odyssey AGM batteries but they are pricey.

Just came from Napa 175.00 for group 27. The bat was tooo big. Group 24 was 147. 650 cac
Ended up going with a AC Delco Professional Series Group 24 700 cac 130 + tax & 7 yr warranty. There group 27 high cranking 750cac was also tooo BIG. Not sure what batteries Jesse is talking 'bout.

Taking about two or single battery?
If it's a single replacing the two grp24's a single grp27 will fit in that tray

It's OK to mount a battery on its side? I guess since they are all sealed cell now, but, just making sure this is correct?

I think they are referring to lateral as opposed to longitudinal.jwfchase wrote:Aciled wrote:jfarsang wrote:Taking about two or single battery?

Ah, hence the use of the word "sideways" instead of "on it's side"...
