I can only imagine the quiet halls of a hospital .......... I guess I have watched way too many bad (or good :-D ) horror movies. I know every time I I was working alone or close to it in a warehouse I would have every light on I could but I still was always looking over my shoulder.

I am not sure why when there is no one around everything sounds strange(could be the effects of being overtired)

Is there any members working/have worked that type of shift ?

How did you adapt ?

I'm on my 2nd week and having a difficult time adjusting.

If you guys who are/have experienced this, I would really appreciate any advice on how to deal with the odd hours.

Cheers (sleepy but have to be alert)

Hey Jesse.
I work shift. 3 days 3 nights 6 off. I'm not a night owl so the days are a cake walk....I run into troubles on nights myself. Switching to nights (Short change) I get up at a normal time on the morning of my first night. Get busy in the morning, hit the gym, errands, whatever....Then grab a nap in the later afternoon. Come night shifts I avoid big meals (Big meals = ZZZZZZZZ), mostly eating smaller vegetarian meals. Eat some carbs for every meal to keep the brain fueled up. I prefer green tea to black, but black does in a pinch. If you get sleepy stand up. Go for a walk. Some of the guys I work with won't touch redbull with a ten foot pole but swear by that 5 hour enegy....They say it's "natural"...Veggie shakes high in chlorophyl do the trick also....
You've never heard of the Delinnium Falcon? It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs...

"Love to, but alas grasshopper, your pebbles are far and few between."

Do you not remember?

Master Ian: "Quickly as you can, snatch the pebble from my hand!"
[Young Jesse tries to do so and fails]

Master Ian: "When you can take the pebble from my hand, it will be time for you to walk on the beach"
[ Young Jesse realizes his err, places his head into his hands] :o

Well since you brought it up... a spoonful seems to put the kids to sleep earlier!
