Well thanks to Mardy and his crew at Amazing Autos, we are now proud owners of a 1996 LWB L400. We finally had a chance to visit and touch the beast, so we know that it is only a matter of a few days until Mardy tightens the last nut and polishes the last bit and we will be on our way.
On our way from Canada to Ushuaia, Argentina! My wife Fanny (Paris, France) and I (Fredericton, NB, Cda) were working in Sukkur, Pakistan for humanitarian organizations during the flood relief resulting from the famous flood of 2010. This kind of work is emotionally as well as physically exhausting so we decided that we needed some kind of vacation…I had been eyeing up the Delicas for a bit and since the prospect of a bicycle journey from Paris - Shanghai wasn’t sitting too strongly with Fanny, we decided that probably the van idea was probably best.
Our ‘journey’ then started back in May 2011 when we contacted Mardy and committed for our own Delica while we were still in Pakistan. We left Pakistan at the end of May and have been anxiously waiting since. Meanwhile the inevitable delays with delivery of the van we call ‘Bip-Bip’ we have been busy with a circumnavigation about the national parks in BC and Alta.
So in a week or so the general plan will be to leave Vancouver to mosey up to the Dalton and Prudhoe Bay for the shakedown cruise of Bip-Bip, before turning back to Fredericton and then later across America from Boston to Las Vegas and then down to the Baja and the west-side descent of the Americas.
We look forward to seeing you around...
Peace
Chris

Re: Fanny and Chris
Welcome to Delica Canada, Fanny & Chris
We look forward to hearing more about Bip-Bip. On Saturday the 27th of August there is a mini meet at a Canadian Tire car park at Granview Highway and Bentall. Perhaps you can bring Bip-Bip and meet a few like minded people if you are around the Vancouver area... smiles.

Re: Fanny and Chris
Thanks guys for the warm welcome. Looking forward to enjoying our new toy. I have been following DinoEvo for a bit now and been using him as a reference...hope he is ok with that. Hopefully we will cross paths with him somewhere south.
We are now on the move as Fanny only has a few weeks on her visa and has to get out of Canada before they put a frozen mukluk to her ass out the door.

Sounds like a fun trip! When you get to la Paz Baja take the topolobampo ferry instead of the massy an one, it's a scow!

We have left Canada leaving behind the cold weather. We are moving west and south from Fredericton and are passing Raleigh North Carolina heading for Louisiana and The BIG easy and the beaches. Mexico is on the Horizon.
