Awning
Hey,
I'm looking for an awning that works well for the Delica. Any leads?

Re: Awning
If you have a roof rack, look at Shady Boy. I bolted one to the roof rack no problem, cost was about 300$. I mention the rack because this is one that is designed to bolt directly to the roof, which is a bit of a problem for the Delicas (both low and high roof w/ Crystal Lite).
Otherwise, Apollo makes a nice awning, but it is considerably more expensive.

Re: Awning
Any awning manufacturer (proper length / weight) will fit providing you have some brackets made up for the rain gutters.
Most RV places that sell/service awnings should be able to set you up.
All comes down to two things :
1- cost
2- what would you like from it

Re: Awning
I too have a Shady Boy, and it is also attached to the rack, not the roof. On our trip north, we ended up only using it once.
Depending on your roof (high/low/CrystalLite) it shouldn't be too hard to bolt into the roof. Once installed, you can remove the awning, leaving the brackets in place.
Closed up, it is only the length of the door, but opened it is 6'x10'. Also, if you don't use the optional poles, nothing is connected to the ground, so you can move the vehicle even with the awning out.Depending on your roof (high/low/CrystalLite) it shouldn't be too hard to bolt into the roof. Re: Awning
I work at a RV dealer and just oreder my awning today, 8 foot box awning. Freedom III by Carefree. they sell for $1000 retail, a bit pricy but they are nice to operate. Hand crank to open with support legs. it will also be attached to my Yakima rack which was also ordered today from my other job, the ski shop. it was an expensive day to say the least. Thank goodnes I pay cost on both items.

Re: Awning
I installed a shady boy on my hi roof with no problems or mods to the brackets. Crystal roof may need mods. Great awing. No moving parts, easy intall (you do need to drill holes if not mounted on rack. Just caulk with good marine thru hull sealant). Very light and well designed. Free supporting in calm conditions. Tie downs for windy days are included. Price aroung $350 I believe. Made on lower mainland. Great awning. No issues.
Cheers

Re: Awning
Shady Boy's website has photos of Delicas with awnings. The first photos are of mine, the rest are clw54's.

Re: Awning
Great for shade (although the Deli itself provides pretty good shade), haven't had it out in rain much (Calgary rain is usually a heavy downpour with high winds), works well with snow. Agree that it doesn't like wind very much.after oil wrote:shady boy good for shade, not good for rain and wind

Re: Awning
I got myself a ARB awning and you can even get a mosquito net to attach to the awning. Follow this link for pictures:
