Information Notice: As of 1st of September, 2011 ~ the following forums will not be on VAT.[/size]

Delica Canada upgrade: Please be advised that by 1st September, 2011; "Vehicle Sales" any sub-forum under "Vehicle Sales", with the exception of "Dealer Feedback, Beefs, and Bouquets", will no longer be appearing in View Active Topics.

As of 1st October, 2011; the above mentioned forum and sub-forums will have been replaced by the new and improved "Delica Trader".

There will be a direct link from VAT to Delica Trader. We hope to make the transition as smooth as possible. Any queries should be directed to this thread.

Will 'Delica Trader' be part of the community delica.ca forum or will be a separate site where advertising, sales, etc... can be done without causing the stir it has been lately on the forum ?

There are of course some instigators (hides behind desk ) but before the aggressive sales tactics, this forum was very docile and extremely fun.

I'd like to see delica.ca go back to it's roots as a community of delica lovers and lovers-to-be, without the forceful sales threads it's turning out to be of recent.

Hope my thoughts ring through with the higher ups

What a great idea this is!
We like new upgrade/policy in Vehicle Sales section as it will definitely encourage fair competition for both dealers and non dealers.
In fact, delica owners do not like many sales ads bumping / floating around by vendors themselves or their followers.
When it comes to 'Delica Parts & Supplies', it will be well organized through same upgrade as well.
We 100% agree "Delica Canada" new upgrade/concept and will make the most of this great opportunity.

Although there are plans for Delica Parts & Supplies, presently they are still in the think tank mode.

Delica Trader is already a separate website with a link to this one. As mentioned, there will be a direct link from VAT to Delica Trader in the form of an updating advertisement (three new listings this week; sort of thing). There is still much work to be done.

I do not know what you mean but if this is a joke then it is a bad and tasteless one. This forum looks more like a market place now and you are the top producer in that area. I believe that anything 'for sale' or 'wanted' must go to the 'classifieds' section and should not show up in the 'view active topics'.

From new topics, unanswered posts, unread posts etc? I think it would be great to see all sales on the delica trader site and not see them on this site apart from the link to delica trader.

Or Delica Canada may set up a sponsor ads section and get ads contribution from vendors.

Incorporate business needs financial profit to survive , cause it is not a hobby.

Hopefully Mark will not adopt this idea.

Other internet forums that have sponsored ads are there for revenue and it detracts away from the 'small neighbourhood-like feel' that the current delica forum is proud to be like. Take the three images I have in my signature below. Imagine if there were more of these image filled with advertising, etc.. all over the forum. Actually, you don't have to imagine. It is quite prevalent in other forums and it's quite annoying both visually and 'feel'.


This whole scenario can be summed up very well :

delica.ca is a unique internet forum that began small and kept the close-nit feel for years until retailers began to see the forum as an advertising tool for their businesses.

as a community based forum, we (mark and everyone under the delica hat) have separated into two groups of people. Those that care about the feel of the site and those that are indifferent.

The single fact that delica.ca has been divided in even the smallest of forms should have never happened to begin with.

the cause & effect -

It is a fact that the delica-based dealers/parts sellers as businesses are here to make money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. Looking at the overall thoughts about competitive dealers and parts suppliers, it is in fact encouraged as it promotes RHD's and creates more options for buyers and owners alike.

This site, which used to be nice and 'homey' now has a feel of an advertising delica-machine. This is simply due to more dealers = more advertising. You (Rising Sun) just happen to be the top aggressive advertiser on this forum which is why people pick on you. Perhaps it's your way with words, because in one sentence you are helping or giving great advice and at the same time selling something. It's just the way it is and you should not take offence to it. Nothing wrong about it persay, it just doesn't sit well with some who enjoy the forum as a forum.

This view is prevalent not only within the forum but outside of the forum where people talk and chatter as this delica community is much larger than a few people. Word gets around and judgements and opinions are formed very easily simply on words typed out and spoken.


Take these things altogether and you have two very distinct directions in the future :


Keep the site on it's current track and watch it become an advertising haven and marketing tool

or

Completely separate the community forum from the advertising haven which is what appears to be the route they are taking


After reading all of that, you can see that it is all positive and creative thinking/opinions.

The delica trader isn't going to do this forum any favors per se, but it will create more revenue for the owners while keeping the ads separate from the forum. Good for you guys, but why not just separate the sections now.

I have never seen a forum where the classifieds are on the active topics list and this is why some retailers choose to exploit (read abuse) the privilege. Where else are you going to find target marketing such as a niche forum that brings in hundreds of users a day. I wish I could do the same for my business, but I am not so lucky..

Since I have known this site there has been advertising, in fact the only thing to have changed in that forum is the addition of Beefs & Bouquets. The competition, as you put it has definitely increased, so much so ~ that Delica Trader has come into being. It is the new Vehicle Sales forum. It is designed to provide a level playing field for all vendors and purvey a comprehensive market for the purchaser. It is also designed to free up space on the VAT page, which this is all about. Until you log in, this site is full of ads, mostly Delica related. There is a benefit to the members to know what's on the market, which is why we are keeping the link to Delica Trader open. It will be one active button that will appear on the VAT page and probably the Board Index page.

During our last meeting, Mark and I resolved to keep the changes somewhat bureaucratic in nature, that is to say not to make rash, spur of the moment changes. To give a sense of continuity, to keep things equal for everyone, which is why we are giving everyone plenty of time to reorder their plans.

Delica Trader is a forum that is meant for one thing: Buying and Selling. So anyone going there will not be offended by, or turned off of dealers because of aggressive ad campaigns as is evidently happening in VAT ~ because they are going for the benefit of seeing ads. Typically, apart from a handful of newbes that join the club to get member's views of these fine machines ~ most everyone in the club already has a Delica ~ so the advertising effort is lost to some degree. But with Delica Trader that is not the case.
