I miss my '300 :-(
I decided to give it up once I got transferred to Montreal and I've been missing the driving experience ever since! The drivers are so so impolite and inconsiderate that I find myself loosing count off how many times I think "He wouldn't try to pull that S&*$%^# if I was behind the wheel of my beloved Landmaster!"
Hopefully the three years I'm to be exiled here will go by quickly and I can come home and get another L300!

Re: I miss my '300 :-(
You did such a nice job on the Landmaster and I know and appreciate how much joy I get from driving my baby... I wish you a speedy return. Hope you are kept busy so that you don't notice how fast time flies and in the meantime ~ in the idle moments ~ you think of more wonderful ideas for the LandmasterII!

Hey Delica 304
I've lived 3 years in Montréal and I fell your pain. Good luck with this crazy driving experience and try not to get killed!
Cheers!

Saddened to read about your loss. Try not to think on it too long, and before you know it you'll be posted back to the coast.

Three years... Ugh! The triple pay cut is what really stings (sea duty allowance-gone! Housing allowance-gone! +Wife had to leave a good job)
At least the city is scooter + motorcycle friendly! There is no shortage of places to park and all for free! You just have to survive the death race into the city!

Start slowly planning your return piece by piece for a good L300. Once you get it, you'll have all the goodies lined up you have collected over those 3 years !

Re: I miss my '300 :-( -UPDATE! It's sold
Just got the call from 5 Star on Tuesday, they sold the van and got me the 9K I was asking for!
While I'm happy I got my asking price, I'm sad that the van is well and truly gone!

Hey congrats! Good to hear you got what you were asking for.
Did Five Star remove the "Landmaster" letters from the front-end?

Re: I miss my '300 :-(
I can feel your pain about the L300... I still feel the same about my good ol'Jeep hehehe...
About Montreal, I lived there for 9 years and loved every minute of it. Just think of the driving part as a game and you will have fun. It's just about who is going to get further ahead then the others, nothing more. I came to realise quickly that depending on which Hwy you're on, there are paterns, so you can beat the traffic. The other thing is that you are going the be so much better in defensive driving, when you will come back, you will se how the majority of the drivers outside Montreal actually drive pretty bad (like forgeting simple basic rules). What I'm saying might sounds crazy for most of you guys, but you have to have been there for a few years to fully understand and appreciate driving in that city. Last time I went there with the lady (she is from a small farm town in central Alberta), she just could not believe how crazy it is, from soccer mom to grand'ma to the hip business men going to his meeting downtown, driving like it is on a race track! Everybody plays the game... so better get use to it and enjoy it!
Remember... aggressive defensive driving is the key.

Why driving on well traveled route when you can beat your own path...

Re: I miss my '300 :-(
I have been to Montreal but never driven in the city. I just came back from Manila and aggressive defensive driving is also the norm. Everyday and throughout the day. Three lanes become five lanes and horns blaring constantly.

Re: I miss my '300 :-(
Last time I checked on 5 star, they still had the "Landmaster" nameplate on the front.
Yep, now instead of having a big beefy van to commute in in downtown Montreal, I'm down to a 250cc motorcycle!
Thanks for kind words Rick, but I think I can safely say that like most people who own a Delica, wrenching on it is part of the fun!
In three years time, I'll be on the lookout for the LANDMASTER II
