where to plumb looped return into?
im converting Turtle to wvo right now. ive got a return valve, ill send one side to the diesel tank of course but i want to loop the other. i think ill tee it in after the filter, before the heat exchanger. i am not using an auxiliary pump this time. your thoughts?

where to plumb looped return into?
That is where I have mine with no aux pump, 'hose on hose' from the tank, and a tank with a coolant coil in it from andrewH. Oil is already filtered and heated, I didn't have any problems in the winter. Did you have the return going to the veg tank last time?

yes, the space antelope has a return to the tank. ive ruined two IP's, maybe b/c of return+aux pump. so i dropped those from this conversion. the return valve will return to diesel or to loop. im thinking now i might return into one of the "out" ports on my filter. basically puts it in to the same place, but less chance for air leaks than a TEE

Any idea if it was the extra pump that screwed with your IPs? Was it a high pressure pump? Doing my own conversion, and was thinking of adding in a small electric pump around 9-11 psi just to help the feed pump side of the IP with thicker WVO...

7-8 psi pump by the tank is the best way to push wvo from the tank to the IP
More psi than that and you risk hurting the IP

i had an auxiliary pump in my last install, i do not in this install. not needed, not recommended. winelover, try first w/o pump, you can always add it laterwinelover wrote:Any idea if it was the extra pump that screwed with your IPs? My return "t's" right after my wvo filter but before my 3 way supply valve.

Re: where to plumb looped return into?
i've looped it in to one of the OUT ports of the FM100. but with a manual 3 way valve before it so i can switch it to return to tank for purging air etc. day before yesterday Turtle officially became a vegetarian! still waiting on the tank, but full install thread coming soon!
the return comes from the IP and into the filter at the left front of the photo. you can just see the three way ball valve TEEd in below. the clear hose with wvo is temporary. the hose from the tank will be proper fuel hose so i can run diesel there too if'n i want.
the hand pump for priming works like a charm!

Re: where to plumb looped return into?
Your set up looks right, the valve before your "t" is you return valve, same set up as mine. With this set up I often skip purging and just return direct to tank to lube my diesel... Winter is when I give it a good purge.
This it's gonna be a very sweet van!
