Hi everyone, newbie alert!

Post by Essexboy »

:-D
Ive just logged on as a new member and wanted to say hi to everyone already seated in this here Mitubishi lounge....

I'm Essexboy, and I'm a UK expat in Welland ,Ontario. I'm still pretty new here but my love of Delicas goes back to the UK where there are lots of them running about as the Jap import market has been alive and kicking there for some years.
A close friend of mine has a lovely Exceed and I get picked up at Gatwick airport in it every time I go back home, and wished I could have one out here.
After seeing one a few months ago in Home Depot parking lot, I began my research on them here and voila here I am.

I'm hoping to buy one soon, but cant find anyone to insure RHD.... :-( Any suggestions?

Hello Essex Boy!

Desjardins insure me write now but I had to be very persistent!

I know a couple of folks are insured with State Farm. It didn't work for me because they say, you need to be insured with them 6 month prior to a RHD car.

Did you find a Delica to buy?

Welcome to Delica Canada, Essexboy :M

Get to know the site, there are many resources to be found. I would recommend reading "Welcome to Delica Canada: Read This Before You Do Anything." if you haven't already. What part of Essex are you from? Also get to know the search engine: Currently there are a couple of threads going regarding "Insurance in Ontario" Could have valuable information for you.

One other thing: Learning to drive in Canada ~ I learned to drive in the UK, it took me a week or two to master shifting with my right hand, and of course there is the signal/windscreen wiper issue. During this time of extreme vigilance I pulled into the oncoming traffic twice (both occasions were from car parks). If you are going directly into a Right Hand Drive vehicle then I would caution you to be extra vigilant about keeping to the right hand side of the road.

Happy trails!

Falco.

Hey Essexboy,

Here's an extensive post I wrote on how to get insured in Ontario. I've just went through the process about 3 months ago.http://www.delica.ca/forum/moving-from- ... 10986.html

The key of getting insured is being informed. Many people here in Ontario think like this: RHD = Young reckless driver + Skyline 1000 hp + death

So having even a picture of your truck with you will calm a situation where a person don't want to give you service. Don't get me wrong, I didn't get bad service but some were reluctent. It's quite easy to break the predjudice, but you'll have to do it everytime you talk to someone.

If you're to buy your Delica with RightDrive (Toronto), you'll be able to get a good service and also, a more detailled picture of the insurance situation!

Good luck mate!
