Re: Is the Delica Wave Dead?
Hey Jordan, love your link hehehe... and also loooove Sahra Silverman...
Well, I don't really care if I don't get "waved" back... I do flash the high beams and wave when I pass another RHD, any. Even in my WRX, other WRX will wave. This reminds me when I was for a full year in Australia. Driving a Toyota Landcruiser Troop carrier with boat on roof and everything, every other camper van waved. After 6 months I started thinking what the hell is going on with these people. Then I realised that they were plane and simple friendly. So... I keept on waving. And here in our beautifull country, I wave at any RHD because I am friendly... so I think hehehe.
We are going up to Hinton, AB next w-e for a lake clean-up (scuba-diving). I bet I will have some great conversation with the other red necks of this province
!
Cheers!

Re: Is the Delica Wave Dead?
You folks just need to move to Ontario, where we not only wave, but stare at each other in shock as we bounce up and down in the seat with glee, having actually seen another Delica. Most Delica drivers here would stop, turn around, and pull over for a conversation.
Geez, folks in BC are in such a rush! :)

Re: Is the Delica Wave Dead?
The "Wave" isn't dead here in Nanaimo, although there's a mother who tends to be more focused on driving and her kids to wave back...but I'm going to keep trying!
The L300 drivers seem to wave more than the 400's, but I'm an equal opportunity waver.

Re: Is the Delica Wave Dead?
Lately I've been waving & grinning at everyone.... freaks them out and makes them wonder. But for Delicas I give the Mitsu-wave/salute, although sometimes I miss.

Re: Is the Delica Wave Dead?
I've given up with my truck and have started working my way in front of people so hopefully they can see the mitsumaple on the back. Most of the time I think they don't recognize the symbol and instead see a guy in a beat up pick-up with a confederate flag / stripper bar logo on the back cutting them off.

I wave at all delicas too and think that some the 400 drivers who don't wave back don't know 300's are even delicas...Elbrad wrote: The L300 drivers seem to wave more than the 400's, but I'm an equal opportunity waver.

I wave at L300's but I think some of them are too snobby to wave back at my L400.

Re: Is the Delica Wave Dead?
i try and wave back when i can...
sometimes i'm distracted by the delica ride experience
and don't notice.
i've actually had people flag me down to stop so they could look closer. the annoying thing is that women are more interested in my delica than me...
LOL!

Re: Is the Delica Wave Dead?
This is too funny. Like a Deja Vu except this time I am on the opposite side. In the VW forum I am in there is an identicle thread where us Vanagon and Bay volksies complain about those damn Eurovan drivers who never wave back. I think I even used the soccer mom burn once myself! Even though I have an L400 I wave at everyone. I guess I would be the delica equivalent of a Eurovan driver now. I waved at a bay window westy last week and they waved back. Then they pulled up beside me and looked at me like I was a freakin space alien.
I did a huge road trip in my westy 2 years ago and I noticed a huge variation in westy waves that i think would represent the Delica wave too. There were a lot of waves until you got close to Vancouver (The epicenter). Then it is so common that no one cares. Then we drove down through the states and it was the same again, the farther away you are the more waves you get. Just my scientific theory.
