WVO places to buy?

WVO filtering, WVO conversion information, biodiesel fuel issues, etc.

WVO places to buy?

Post by nxski »

Hi,

I know there are lots of threads on WVO and it's uses etc however they are either old or do not answer my questions. I'm looking to find a supplier of WVO in and around the South Delta area but am not all that interested in setting up a treatment system as I do not have the space. Is there somewhere I can take it to be treated or that I could outright buy it already treated? What would the best types of places to buy from be? I was thinking possibly a Greek food restaurant I used to work at. Am I correct in thinking that a fast food restaurant would have bad quality oil or is their oil better than the food they cook in it?

Thanks for your help!

Hi

I'd be happy to sell you filtered and dewatered oil if you can't find anything close. I'm near metrotown in Burnaby (and soon New West). You could come say once a month, fill up your van and bring a bunch of filtered cubies with you to last you until the next month...

I'm using Canola oil from Japanese restaurants only so very nice oil.

Have you tried on craigslist?

Cheers

To answer you second question, you ideally want canola oil that gets regularly changed by the restaurant (everyday is best, twice a week is acceptable...) you also want to a kid fast food, lard... I find Japanese restaurant the best.

Actually, one of my suppliers used to sell their oil to another Chinese restaurant after they were done using it!!! Go figure!

You might be fine with your Greek restaurant, you'd need to test the oil and see if it's got lots of oil of if it's dry...

Hope this helps.

Great, thank you very much! I'll check craigslist and be in touch when the weather warms up a bit. :-)
