Gotta love the cold weather. (things break)
Noticed a puddle of something bluish under my clutch pedal.
Sure enough brake fluid.
The master cylinder is leaking.. damn cold. Probably
due to the change in pressure needed to push it through.
Anyway, ordered another one of those. I will attempt
to change it myself and try to find the bleed near
the clutch down low. Any pictures of that anyone?
Also noticed the rear blower not blowing.
Not sure if it's a recent thing. Haven't needed it in a while
The light comes on the button showing it's activated.
No Blow.
I had the tranny out/clutch done a couple weeks back so
when I can I will check out the wiring and make sure
it didn't get disconnected.
The fuse is ok. Someone had mentioned at one time there
are fuses behind the glove box. Might check those 3 out
as well.
And yes, I gave the blower/assembly a couple whacks
to see if it would start.
I'll get a current tested under there and see if there
is power to the motor or not.
At least it's gotten warmer for the time being.. -34 to -40
was a little much. The L300 still started. Only once did
I have to give it a little gas/press on the accelerator to
get it to catch.

The whole console has to come out and the steering wheel, etc... to remove the master cyl.

Re: Gotta love the cold weather. (things break)
yeah, cold weather is not good for these vehicles, no matter what you do to them.
I seem to have damaged a power sunshade in this last cold snap, something to do with the motor on it, the shade still operates, but only half way, and the motor seems to be spitting out some plastic dust above the headliner. when things get warmer (ie summer) I'll have to pull it apart and see how much damage I did... until then I disconnected power to that shade to prevent any further damage.

I had a peek under and I think I can get the cylinder
out without ripping it all apart.

Thanks a bunch for the filter Firesong. I think my van got too close to yours yesterday and caught the no rear heat cold
Thanks again for the heads up on Spiffy lube too! Hopefully we will both be able to see out of the side windows soon.

Re: Gotta love the cold weather. (things break)
Well my fan light would come on when pressed, but no power to fan. Checked fuse and fuse looked good, still no power to blower. Just for s and giggles I replaced the fuse with another 20a fuse and voila fan is blowing!
There was a hairline break in the fuse, not blown but broken???Anyhoo unless you held it up to your nose to inspect you would not see it.

Re: Gotta love the cold weather. (things break)
You inspired me to go check my fuse again.
Nope, not the problem
Pulled the rear switches out and tried to make some sense of that
with a tester light.
Bah!
Then figured I would go underneath again
Went right to the blower and traced some wiring.
Then noticed that 2 wires go into the blower/fan
.. going back... hmm only one at a junction.
Somehow a wire got pulled out of a join.
Did a search and found the stupid thing.
Don't know, don't care.. jammed it back in.
Started up the van and it works.
Too bad the clutch master cylinder won't be as easy.

I've done 5 already and the procedure in the book has been the same for all 5.Firesong wrote:I had a peek under and I think I can get the cylinder

If you can figure it out how to do it without taking the console out, let me know.

Which book are you referring to?
I wouldn't mind having a peek at it.

Did you only remove the instrument console or the entire dash? Curious because I just replaced my master cylinder but I also did a few other repairs and mods so pulled out the entire dash. It looked like only taking off the instrument cluster would have been enough to pull the master cylinder.jfarsang wrote:I've done 5 already and the procedure in the book has been the same for all 5.Firesong wrote:I had a peek under and I think I can get the cylinder

Instrument cluster goes out, master cyl goes in.

Here is how Edwin does it (in particular the last three pictures of the post):
http://www.delica.ca/forum/a-visit-to-c ... r+cylinder
He does not remove the instrument cluster, too much bother. The Steering column needs to move.
Falco.

Jfarsang, Falco, thanks for the input. Good to know it is actually as easy as I was hoping. It was necessary to remove my entire dash this time around but I hope I never have to do that again.

I'm still struggling with my rear heat. I've checked fuses, and the one for "rear heat" looks fine. To double-check this assumption I swapped it out with a neighbouring 20A fuse and no change. I may have to go under and inspect the blower fan as you did but I'm a rookie under. Can you describe or take a photo of the wiring issue you discovered? It's humid out here on the coast and these gorgeous windows fog up pretty quick... thanks a bunch, D-B.
I love a vehicle that you can take a good nap in.
