Re: Welcome to the "Last Word Café".
The "Life Of Brian" is a film by a British comedy troupe called "Monty Python's Flying Circus". It is a religious parody on the Christian story. The premise is there are two children born in stables in Bethlehem, one being Jesus and the other being Brian. Brian's life parallels Jesus's life as many people confuse him for the messiah.solanoid wrote:Ok Im confused,

If I am hungry and I know that all the fast food restaurants are located down one street... I will go to another street.
Actually, I am really not sure what you are driving at, Solenoid. Could you expand on why you are confused?

Confused about whether Brian is the true Messiah or just a very naughty boy? I'm confused...
Oooo stay away from those cheeseburgers - They're toxic!
And besides, McDonald's is an evil corporation - every bit as bad as WalMart...

Re: Welcome to the "Last Word Café".
Well I think I can help you out somewhat.
For "Life Of Brian" go rent it at your local DVD joint. It is worth the watch if you haven't seen it, When it came out it was considered controversial. I remember going to see it at the cinema and having to walk through a protest line put up by the General Synod of the Church Of England. It's a comedy, a good laugh.
As far as the burgers go, "Peter's" in Calgary are pretty good but if you want a really good burger, I mean a REALLY good burger ~ then you are going to have to go on a Quest to the holy land, North Vancouver. Once there you will need to find the holy grail of hamburgers: The Tomahawk. Their burgers are made with organic beef from nomad cows and are dripping with the manna from heaven. My personal favourite: "The Simon Baker Burger". It is dressed to the nines with Aged Cheddar Cheese.... Mushrooms.... full on Back Bacon...... oh.. oh... I have to go..... later.

I suspect that you will not wish to see the Unified Field in this light, but humour me for a few moments before you compose your riposte.
If we are all apart of the Greater Unified Field then we would all be apart of the collective soul, if you please. We are all intelligent, for the most part ~ and could well be recreating ourself in our own image, as it were ~ which would explain why events can be affected by the observer.
Chance you say? I would more support a systematic continuum such as the Chaos Theory over "chance". Causality, mais oui? Then with causality comes affect. Cause equals affect. Spread your wings my little butterfly......
I don’t think that there is any Unified Field like that – that it simply does not exist. There is no evidence for one, so why should one exist?
FalcoColumbarius wrote:
Yes, you certainly can find patterns everywhere you look, which brings us to the Golden Mean. Let's start with "nipples". Why does Mankind have nipples? Well, for the female it is an obvious answer, to feed the offspring, but what about men? Why on Earth do men have nipples? When one looks critically at the human body it doesn't take long to appreciate that both genders come from the same template. In fact it doesn't matter what shape, size, race, gender ~ all human beings work off the same formula.
The reason Men have nipples is because the embryo form defaults to a female form, that, and as you might guess we share a good deal of parts otherwise with women. It is simply the way natural selection works on the genes.
FalcoColumbarius wrote:
Blind conjecture? Yet the very things that support my argument are the very rules you refer to that have promulgated since the ancient Greeks. Those super novas out there in space follow the same Golden Section as our very DNA helix as the snail and the sunflower ~ so I suppose that what we need to establish here is what you mean by "evidence".
Except those golden rules you cite are the very things discussed and predicted by science. The very tool that finds these ratios and explains them.
So, my standards of Evidence refer specifically to scientific merit and the methods of performing those observations.
Of course. Although, in light of all the evidence of the universe ~ there is much to be said about "having a gut feeling".
I try not to think with my gut – it is usually full of s**t.
FalcoColumbarius wrote:
That's a rather disingenuous arrogant thing to say? I would think that the Chinese, the Hopi Nation and the Mayans would be disinclined to acquiesce to that comment. Have you consulted with them on this matter of their existence?
Arrogant? No, The Chinese are still around but generally use the Gregorian calendar, the Hopi and Maya are around, but hardly in the fashion of what one would call a civilization.
The fact of the matter is that many cultures believed lots of things, just because cultures believed things it does not give them any merit or reason to follow what they believed is true. Does it merit interest as something to study? Sure. Is it true? Not always so.
There is no more reason to give credit to the times of these dates than there is to the idea of Santa Claus.
FalcoColumbarius wrote:
These "outdated" calendars, which have been more astronomically accurate than our "modern" one, yet we still don't know why....
I would need to see citation of this, I have heard nor seen any evidence of this being true. I know for a fact that the Mayan Calendar had some major issues with dates, just like many others. As it is, our current calendar as modified by science is considerably more accurate than the others.
FalcoColumbarius wrote:
Maybe it's because we are superior because we are newer..... I think it is that attitude that is "dangerous" ~ it tells us that with all the technology we have developed we still haven't learned many basic lessons in life and are doomed to repeat them.
Except we now live longer, and we are less violent, we have fewer diseases. The only thing they had was a different culture. Other than cultural differences, there were no real advantages to be had by their society.
Well, given that my friend has been studying the Maya since he was a kid, speaks and reads fluent Mayan, and spends half of his life in Mexico with the Maya, I would say that in his “ivory tower” he has a pretty fundamental understanding of Mayan culture and ancient culture. I would certainly take Marc’s word on the Maya over someone whom you met in a Coffee shop who claimed to be an authority on the matter.FalcoColumbarius wrote:
So when you go on about "arbitrary calendars" ~ bare in mind that the most arbitrary calendar in known existence is the Roman Calendar.... the one we use today in our "modern society".
It is for this reason alone that we should heed ancient calendars ~ they might have been onto something. By the way, the Maya themselves attribute a prophetic meaning to their calendar, one told me so himself. Remember? At the coffee shop. Not sure how the professors in their ivory towers feel about that.

The 'Station Burger' at the Naramata Pub in Naramata, BC is another burger worth checking out if ever on an around the world burger adventure. Its big its juicy its mushroomy its big and its big. If you can eat the whole burger and all the fries and still walk...dude you have a big belly! Also you have to get a Naramata Nut Brown ale from Cannery Brewery to go with it. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
