Hi everyone my name is Ramon and I own a 1987 Mitsubishi van. When I was born my parents decided to buy this van then it broke down when I was about 14 years old and I told them to keep it till the time comes when I can rebuild the motor. So here I am almost done with my rebuild and looking to learn more about my van. These vans are really rare here so it makes it really hard for me to find people that actually know stuff about it. Wow... you must be the first member from the US to actually own a Mitsu van! Is it actually a Delica or something similar? Please post a pic or two so we can see for ourselves. You will find a wealth of information on here and everyone is very helpful if you have questions so explore the site and fire any questions you can't find answers to. Hands across the border, eh?

this is not the first mitsubishi vanwagon from the US to find its way to the Delica Forum. i cant freakin find any in a search... but theyre here. made from they were all 2wd gassers.

Yup it's similar to that picture that you found...i'll take pictures of it tomorrow for everyone to see...sadly it is only a rear wheel drive 4G64 automatic

Huh!... boy, you learn something new every day. This makes me even more astounded that the 4wd version (under whatever name) never made it to the North American market given the vanwagon appears directly related. Anyway... it's cool to see members south of the line on here too as we have quite a number from overseas. Yes, please show us pics... would be great to see the family heirloom.

Hi 86Drift, welcome. And congrats on restoring such a classsic. We saw one at CC Autos in Coombs 2 or 3 years ago, and it a very luxurious van.

I think all the US vans were gas, 2 wheel drive. The bumpers are very different, like car bumpers to meet US regs, with car tires. Advertised as luxurious commuter vehicles.

If you can't drive it up here, feel free to organize a weekend show & tell, several of us would be pleased to drive down and visit Anyone know a good place to park and sleep, often the government owned fishing marinas have free overnight parking a washrooms.

Hey, nice vanwagon! I live in Washington as well, & have been interested in these since I found out about them. They are hard to find in the US!

I also have the P04W USA-spec L300. My L300 is a 1990 with the hi-impedance injectors (87/88 had low-impedance). I have rebuilt the fuel system; new injectors (blue top 2.4ltr 4G64 Eclipse GS type), reconditioned gas tank, custom designed in tank pickup, external fuel pump conversion, new ECU.

I am looking at the SOHC 16V head from the Expo/Summit (although you could do the eclipse DOHC head with more work and some fabrication), and the LSD from a Mitsubishi SUV/truck of the same time period.

Also a 2-1/4 inch exhaust for added performance. 2-1/4 is the perfect size for this displacement.

Thinking about using a MegaSquirt 3 stand-alone system for engine management, but that is lower on the list than the other items.

I am looking at getting a few more of these vans. Of course they are rare in the USA, but they seem to be less rare on the east and west coasts. California seems to have more of them.
