Post by 86drift »

Hi everyone I have a 1987 van and well i don't know anything about that van at all and there are no one near where i live that knows anything. Well from look at pictures online i was wondering if i would be able to change my headlights and bumper. Since i'm in the U.S. i know japanese cars look much different from the way they originally do in japan.

I would suggest that you may want to consider a roadtrip to Vancouver/Richmond and go see CVI. I am assuming that regulations for headlights on imported vehicles are the same in the US than they are in Canada (DOT approved)... but to find out what ones you have and what ones a 86 needs, the best would be to check with somebody who understands (i.e. CVI or similar)... If I am not mistaken, the 86 has the double square headlights - I would think that a sealed beam set would do the trick... but again... I don't know for sure...

Good luck...

If you have the square bulbs that are standard on most old cars keep them!

The newer style L300 lights basically suck. I have the old style 4 light system and I would never change them.

here are the lights on my 1989 (best offered in my mind).

I agree with thedjack, if yours has square lights, keep em. Do you still have the old headlight in there, can get the part number? Can you do a quick you tube video, then put your yu tube video link here, and we'll all give you various opinions. Our delica L300's for 1988 to 1989 use a the 2 square headlights, so if you carefully measure the area, then thedjcak Dave can see if his are same size (my hunch is they will be exactly the same size, from what I recall on the one USA one I examined), Dave says they are a common size, available cheaply from any shop.

If you get yourself up here, you can always stay at our home, and we'll arrange a Deli Meat for you. If you want some of to visit you, just set a date and we'll try to arrange a convoy. Got any place we can discretely sleep in our deli's (ie a local marina parking lot with washrooms).

Cheers, Christine.

He may have the earlier version with just one square headlight per side.
