Hello from Calgary

My wife and I just got our first Delica from Mardy this weekend. Had a fun drive through the Coquahalla on saturday.

It's a white, '95 L400. Love it so far.

Not officially named yet, but so far I'm calling it Herculese!

Will post pics once it gets warm enough to spend more than 5 minutes outside here.

Seriously tho... welcome! It sounds as tho we will be trying to set up a meet of some kind this month perhaps coupled with a little offroad fun somewhere. Would be great if you can come out and meet some of the rest of us and we can meet you and your wife. Delica peeps are really good peeps - we've had some great fun and are hoping to make our gatherings at least once a month.
Where are you located in Calgary? I'm in the lower southwest of the inner city.
I too just purchased a white 95 400 from Mardy - he put the"amazing" in Amazing Auto Imports as far as I am concerned - I hope the experience was as pleasurable for you. He's a really good guy.
I hear ya on the cold... brrr... I wanna tinker some with mine too but just can't stand out there and it won't fit in the garage.
I have just applied for the inspection equivalency so I don't (hopefully) have to have the OOP done... should know by tomorrow. I have a thread in the Importing and registration section - might be able to save you a few bucks.
Anyway... getting carried away... hope to see you at a meet sometime.

That would be me - I think FC must have the Jaos van with 85k on it... sweet. Done and doing a number of things but I will detail that on another thread. This is FC's thread for glory

Mardy had one that wasn't listed. 128k.

No extra work yet, just a north american stereo. Looking for a rack right now, checking out Enviroimports. I'm not sure if we're gonna safari box it up, or go for bars (need to be able to put boats on the roof).

Did you just have yours in at Kirkham Automotive? I just spoke with them as I am dropping mine off tonight and they said they had another white one in there yesterday for OOP which I assume must've been you. She's going in for a minor "procedure"...

I have a safari rack unassembled and still in the box from my former van which I purchased from Maximum Overdrive at the time I bought the van. Was originally meant for L300... not sure if it will fit a 400. Never got put on the van because I had to park underground when I worked in Vancouver. A rack may be easier if you are putting short boats on the roof - something for them to sit partially in rather than on. Just a thought.

The guys at Kirkham Automotive are good guys. They seem to love the Delicas. I ran into Robert the owner at a restaurant last week. He yelled "nice Delica!" across the parking lot. In Vancouver I might not have blinked an eye but in Calgary, it is pretty rare someone actually recognizes what these things are so you take notice when someone hollers at you. Was quite funny. Was a little dumbfounded at first.

Madmazda may be outnumbered in the L400 colour department but as of yet not outdriven... I have never seen anyone climb a hill quite like THAT

With all these new rides around, we have to have a meet very soon. I will start a thread on the events section and see where it goes.
