Could it be possible that the plural is Delica and the singular should be Delicum?

As far as a group of Delicas a drove seems most fitting. : )

What do we call Delica owners/keepers? Delicists? Delicitarians? Delicists?

Also, how do you pronounce Delica? is it like Del-ee-ka, like Selica? Or Del-i-ca, like delivery?

Cheers,
Acer is latin for Maple : )

Here's another old thread on the topic of pronunciation:

The UK and Oz forums have been through this few times as well. I still like the Duh-leak-ah, but suspect I'm in the minority, with Dell-ick-a being the most common way. Say it whichever way you like...

Look at Led Zeppelin, they did a twenty-five year revival in '07, at London's 02 Arena which sold out in minutes ~ I guess people were digging that, too. Some things do not change... grins.

You guys rule! what a great thread!

Paul, your ingenuity is truly impressive-you deserve a promtion!

I have been thinking along a military line, how about "DELICA DIVISION" if you like that, we could even have a rank structure.

1st year-private
2nd year-corporal
3rd year-sargeant
4th and over-general

I guess that would make me private solanoid, giving you all the ability to scream in my face, and make me scrub your wheel rims with my tooth brush.

"This is my delica, there are many like it but this one is mine. My deli is my best friend, it is my life. I must learn to master it as I master my life, without me my delica is useless, without my delica I am useless..."

PRIVATE SOLANOID, SECOND CLASS! IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A STATEMENT LIKE THAT LATTER PARAGRAPH THEN YOU WILL DO SO IN FULL METAL CAPS! DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR! NOW GET ON YOUR KNEES AND LICK MY RIMS!

...... Nah, just kidding (grins)... by the way, have you seen "Men Who Stare At Goats"?

Surely, it should be a dexter of Delicas. That has both Latin and alliteration!

I appreciate your offer of a promotion, but please, naval ranks and nothing higher than Chief Petty Officer.

As an aside, I might have to start a new thread now that I no longer drive a Delica: "A pride of Pajeros? A pack of Pajeros? A pounce of pampas cats?"

Definitely like this one! :-D

In keeping with that quasi-biological nomenclature, and me being inherently practical, I partial to "Gaggle" for the collective noun.
Like Geese, Dellies are kind of odd and a bit silly yet rather noble and very resourceful all in the same breath.

Cheers!
