I recently picked up a '91 Delica Exceed. Since it is white we call it Shaun (as in Shaun the Sheep from Wallace and Gomit fame).
Have had it 5 days now and the thing is too much fun.
Just wondering if there is a secret Delica.ca wave to give when passing others on the road???
I guess my first question to those of you out there is...
I have a roof rack and need the mounting brackets - any body got them? I will ask this question again in the appropriate area.
See you on the road.

-notice the Delica coming the other wayShaun Van Ramen wrote:Just wondering if there is a secret Delica.ca wave to give when passing others on the road???
-release steering wheel from grip of hand
-raise hand approximately 15-25cm above the height of steering wheel
-pivot arm at the elbow to allow hand to travel in an arc approximately 35-60 degrees from one extreme to the other
-note smile on other driver's face before lowering hand
-lower hand and re-grip the steering wheel
NOTE: this "wave" can be applied to other RHDers as well, not just Delicas. I've used it effectively since changing from a Delica to a Pajero, and I regularly wave to Skylines, Actys, Sambars, and Safaris.

Just make sure ALL five fingers are clearly displayed to avoid any unnecessary unpleasantnessmararmeisto wrote:-notice the Delica coming the other wayShaun Van Ramen wrote:Just wondering if there is a secret Delica.ca wave to give when passing others on the road???

Around the Lower Mainland we usually display the "Delica Canada Club Wave".
Sometimes, 'though rarely, one might receive a similar gesture from a supporter of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Not a serious issue, let it pass.

- Release steering wheel with either hand, depending on the trajectory of said wave; curl over ring finger and pinky, thereby clearly displaying the thumb, pointer and middle fingers, spreading them wide ~ it's a stylized rendition of the Mitsumaple.

16th and Cambie - Friday night - Someone walking across the crosswalk gave us "The Wave" (Three fingers spread) - Cool that one does not even need to be in their vehicle to acknowledge.

I must disagree with the "keep all five fingers displayed" these rides are from Japan. Therefore we must keep this in mind while signalling our mutual respect via a wave. Take Both hands off steering wheel... Cup on hand over mouth in a shy fashion while squinting eyes, the other hand must be raised 5.25cm above steering wheel and your middle and index fingers must extend into a "peace" sign.
Then place both hands back at 10 and 2 so as not to upset anyone and give them a reason to think RHD cars are unsafe....... Then go for sushi :)

To quote George Bush " I'd like to thank all the people who came out to wave with all FIVE fingers" thus avoiding the dreaded "one finger salute"LeeHammy wrote:I must disagree with the "keep all five fingers displayed" these rides are from Japan. I never hold my wheel at ten to two. Always at a quarter to three. Far better optional positioning. And I'm still gonna do the Delica Canada wave as it has been done since....LeeHammy wrote:.......Then place both hands back at 10 and 2 so as not to upset anyone and give them a reason to think RHD cars are unsafe....... Just a couple of threads....

Palm out and your okay. Palm in and you could be construed as giving the bird.
