Help needed breake drum problem

Hi
I have some problems with the rear breaks. I took of the drum, and the inside is covered with some kind of grease. There is no leak from the break fluid (cylinder or pipe), i have checked the differential fluid and it is full. Any suggestions would be much appreciated?

either you have a cylinder leak letting brake fluid out and mixes with dust in the drum becomes a thick mess

or

Axles seal is leaking so you getting gear oil out of the diff into the brakes

If you are running conventional gear oil you will know it by smell. You may not notice the fluid loss at the diff fill hole as it does not take much.

Look closely and you should find the source (wheel cylinder or axle seal).

Replace which ever is leaking.

Thanks for the swift reply.
The info i have found is the Pajero rear axle assembly schematic can anyone confirm that it is the same setup.
How do i tell the transmission oil from the brake fluid? The brake cylinder is working fine and looks like the only dry thing in there.
How do i proceed to replace the oil seal? Any special tools required or can i use/adapt standard tools? Does anyone have experience changing it? Pointers/tips and if possible a guide would be greatly appreciated.
I am kind of new to this.

That Sucks,Transmission oil really stinks!!Regular brake fluid not so much..
If you require rear Drum replacment springs/Hardware I just received a shipment of Factory Kits.I also have new Shoes....In my opinion when you fix the leak you should change out your Drum Shoes as they might be saturated in oil....fire hazard etc.

Big possibility the fluid is actually your differential gear oil. It won't show on your level as it leaks a little bit at a time but eventually will need to top up your diff fluid. Repair is a bit tricky as you will need to disassemble the whole axle assy and send to a machine shop to press out the bearings and locks to access the oil seal... which is the cause of your leaks to begin with.

How brave are you? Brake fluid tastes bitter and metallic, diff oil is greasy and sufurous. Dont swallow.

So figured out it was the diff. oil that was leaking.
It was just to take out the brake shoes, take off the breakpipe, take out the 4 bolts that keeps the axle in place and pull out the axle.
