Red Deer Alberta OOP inspection?

Post by robinlambert »

I am picking up my Delica tomorrow and I will have to get an OOP inspection. Now, I can go to Calgary and leave it at a shop (I hear Prostar is good and I have called them - they are inexpensive too) but I was wondering if anyone knows of a place in Red Deer where I can go? It would be so much easier. I mean, there are a lot of places on the list for me to choose from, but does anyone know of a Delica friendly Red Deer mechanic?

Thanks.

I'm moving to Alberta (Red Deer) in November and am a new Delica owner as well... Anyone have any answers to this one? Has anyone been able to give you any leads? I've just had all my belts done, water pump, oil seals etc here in Vancouver. There are a couple more things to be done (shock bushings, sway bar link bushings, ball joints etc) and I don't want to end up in Red deer with no one who knows a thing about Delica's! I'm thinking I should get all that done in Vancouver before moving?

Do it in Vancouver before you move and keep your reciepts.

I would do it in Vancouver but I can tell you they will not even look at your reciepts. My Delica had the OOP down in BC and I had reciepts but they just glanced at them and said 'sorry, we have to do the OOP from scratch here.' And it is WAY more detailed an inspection here in Alberta. That said, I was able to pass.

If you are driving back I might think about booking in Calgary and getting it done there before heading to Red Deer. That said, if you get here and you need to get it inspected still, it is possible and it was not a huge hassle.

I had my Deli done in Red Deer at OK Tire on 67 St, across from the Starbucks about 2 months ago. It wasn't cheap $220, but they were good with it. Came on recommendation from a fellow that did my stereo - he's imported many RHD vehicles. Having said that, I have gone to Dick's Auto, just on the east side of the RDR north of the Taylor - Ross St interchange, for a couple of minor fixings (belts) and they're super great with looking into things. If we could get Dick's on side with Delis, it would be great. Really great shop. I see they do OOPs for $70 (in hindsight wished I'd gone there all along!) or so. I really like Dick's Auto, Dick's a great guy and very helpful. No chance of me having any affiliation with them either... I own a fishing lodge! :)
Wishing you well.
PS - what'd you pick up? I'm in a blue '94 L400.
PPS - the guy @ Future Shop that does the installs is very good with stereo stuff. Not expecting much from F Shop, he was very good and conscientious about things. He knows how to work with these things.
