I learned so much yesterday!
-Mitubishi really wanted me to keep that plastic bit on the front. how many welded brackets and bolts? for basically an advertisement?
-angle grinding required hearing protection, eye protection and long sleeves. next time i'll be grinding on a not brutally hot day.
- never ever trust the manufacturers drying time. it took about twice as long to dry as the bottle said it would.
-to avoid extra trips to canadian tire, i'll always buy twice as much paint as i think it'll need. took me two cans of rock guard and two cans of tremclad. and three trips.
-cardboard is evil, as it sticks to every freshly painted surface. even when it's not tacky anymore.
All said and done, i got the desired bull bars done, it doesn't look pro or anything, but it'll do. i really just wanted to get rid of that plastic thing. then it just snowballed. also got to clean all the bugs out from behind the plastic. gross.
It's currently gunna spend a day out in the sun before i re-mount it to the van, when it's remounted i'll post a pic.
I know this is nothing new, but i'm excited. as soon as i pulled out the angle grinder, i thought: heck yeah. first real irreversible mod.
thanks dinoevo for the inspiration!

it doesn't entirely go with the color of the van, but that's the next challenge. painting the sucker. gotta wait till next payday and buy a crateload of sandpaper, primer and paint.
