Head gasket

Post by Radd Cruisers »

Can the head gasket replacement happen inside the engine bay or does the engine need to come out?

Thanks

I don't know how high you need to lift the chassis to lower the engine. Maybe you can rig it up and out through the hole?

Is there a way to easily remove the panel beneath the drivers seat?

If not, I can't see it being very easy getting at the intake and exhaust manifold fasteners without pulling the engine.

ok... don't think I can answer your question... but I am wondering something here.. judging by the timing of the question... this wouldn't happen to be on a white delica with blue trim for a buyer in Calgary would it? (I'm wondering if you have my Delica... I know it went to the island for repairs... but I don't know where precisely)

now the one thing I may be able to help with, is if it *IS* said Delica, you will find a russek manual in the glove box which may be of some form of assistance...

of course the other question if it does happen to be my Delica is... how's the work comming? :?

No need to remove the engine to change the head gasket.

You will find it MUCh easier if you first remove the floor panel from under the drivers seat (unbolt & remove drivers seat then unbolt & remove the floor) This will give you a lot more room to work! :D

The usual bits will have to come off: Belts, manifolds, rocker cover etc...but you do not need to remove or shift any of the main engine block to remove the head. All work can be done from above the engine.

Regards,

Bruce.

P.S. The 2.5 Pajero/Shogun head is the same as the L300!
