it has nothing to do with police officers approaching, it's all about you being able to see out, and just because other jurisdictions allow it, doesn't mean it's safe... heck, they let people drive vehicles with the steering wheel on the LEFT!!! (note for the humour impaired... this is a joke to try to lighten things up a bit!)

I have to side with Shane and oppose Green1.

The only time I can see Green1's point of view on front tinting, is if the tint is poor quality and you cannot see out properly. That would be dangerous.

The tint that I have had on my vehicles have been good quality. I can barely see in, but I see very clearly out at nighttime.

I have been in residential and rental cars down south in the US with driver/passenger tinted windows. From outside, they look dark but from inside, the tint is literally barely noticeable. Definitely not something that would impede my visibility.

I have also been in vehicles that have horrendous tint jobs and it looks just as dark looking out as it does looking in. That stuff should be illegal.

That's my stance.

Don't tint yer front widows please, I cant stand it when a vehicle with dark front windows is creeping into traffic and you cant get any eye contact to either wave him in or slow him down , same if i'm a pedestrian at a crosswalk you can't tell if they are slowing down to text there mates or do another toot or if there are giving you time to cross.

You know, there is also a very simple way to get effective tinting (actually neutral density, tinting refers to changing colour, but I digress) for a full 360 degree view ... GET SUNGLASSES. You can take them off at night so you have zero tint (or 100% VLT) when it isn't very sunny out, and 95% light block when it is sunny. Simple, effective, and transferable from vehicle to vehicle.

I'll second Artacoma's reasons for not having tinting.

I was in Phoenix for meetings in April. Weather was pefect and not yet too hot, so I rented a road bike for a couple of days and about 150Km up into the surrounding hills.

Almost everything was perfect, except that everyone drives an SUV with all the windows tinted. I nearly got run over at half a dozen intersections because I couldn't see the drivers' intentions when they had the red light or a stop sign. Apparently they don't see bicycles too well from the inside looking out. I can only guess that no tinting would give a rider a fighting chance down there. I'd hate to see any tinting here on the windshield/front windows.

I had my tint done about 10 months ago including the rear. I had the guy cut out an area so I could see the mirror @ night. It works great. No problem with wires causing bubbles to date

That's the only issue I have with my tinting; it tends to obscure the back up mirror but is fine otherwise. I'd have to carefully cut away a small portion which could be a bit dicey; I'd sure hate to hack up the existing film or nick the heat element by trying to cut out a little patch though. Hmmm, gotta' think about this one.

I came out of Mexico with a heavy tint on the rear (80%) and medium on the side passenger and drivers windows(40%). I wound up peeling the front windows off as it did make me feel a little uncomfortable (like I might miss something at night). Too bad as it looked

According to my kids it looked "Gansta" which of course meant I should start listening to music I don't like to sound "Gansta". Better than
looking "Soccer Mom" I guess.
