Just joined the club!
Hi, I just bought my first Delica this afternoon (and it's already broken down... meh...) I'm still super stoked about it, it's a light blue and gray L300 Exceed with 67,000k. The alternator is shot but the dealer is coming by tomorrow with another Deli that I can use while mine is being repaired. I'm already planning on purchasing a hitch, north shore rack, side mount exhaust, ladder and safari rack. I'm planning on lifting it 2-3" and I'll put on some meatier tires. I haven't had a car I actually WANTED to spend money on in about 5 years so I'm really excited.
Also, in the 3 or so hours I did get to drive my Deli, every other Delica owner I passed waved at me. I feel like I've entered a secret society or something!
I'll throw some pictures up when I get my ride back.

Welcome!,
I am glad you stoked even despite an immediate hiccup,
a typical symptom of Delicitis!
Sounds like you have some good plans ahead.
Looking forward to seeing pics!

Just got the loaner, an L400. I took it for a short ride (as I'd never test driven one before) and I have to admit that little extra power is nice. But I can't get around the looks, I'm all about the lunch box not too keen on the jelly bean.

Re: Just joined the club!
Well it did break down within about 3 hours of buying it so ya, you'd think they'd do something. I had it checked out at CVI and everything so I don't blame the dealer (or CVI), when I first went to look at the van it wouldn't start because the battery was dead, it was the original so they put in a new one. My wife took it in to CVI and there was no battery warning so I'm guessing there was no reason to test it, especially at only 67,000k. What I am really happy about is that I was able to get a hold of them at 9 o'clock and have them show up with another car the next morning. I was a bit worried about buying from them at first due to some complaints I'd seen on this message board (Silk Road Autos). I even brought it up with Karim when I was talking with him. But so far he's been really accommodating and quite easy to get a hold of. (Mind you it's only been one day so it's not like I have much of a reference yet. I'll let you guys know if there's anything else out of the blue.) I have to admit though, other then a BMW that I used to own that was serviced by Brian Jessel, I've never had a dealer come out and pick up my car and show up with a loaner for when it's broken down. Which is good cause I'd be up sh#t creek tomorrow morning if I didn't have a vehicle!

I gotta admit, I much prefer the "lunch box" over the suppository.Jensen wrote:.... But I can't get around the looks, I'm all about the lunch box not too keen on the jelly bean.

Re: Just joined the club!
Just flipped the rear hatch gas shocks, I'm re-painting the wiper arms tomorrow and I'm planning on doing the EGR blocking plate asap. I'll buy one off of ebay if need be but if anybody has any locally I can buy I'll take it off their hands. Or, even if somone has their old gasket (or even the dimensions for that matter) I can fab one up at work.

Re: Just joined the club!
I have heard that many of the e-bay blanking plates are stainless steel (that's what I heard). I would not recommend using stainless with aluminium for electrolytic reaction reasons. Go with mild steel.

Stainless/aluminum is fine if dressed with the proper sealant Loctite 567 does the trick.

I'll be selling these soon as well. The package will include new mounting brackets for the single din stereo (all bolted, no sleeves or metal tabs!) The new faceplate (which replaces the double surround that comes with the vehicle, also screwed into place NO GLUE!) and instructions.

Welcome on Board Jensen!
Nice clean install on those gauges, fun to do the first mods isn't it! I'd suggest you create a new post so that people who don't care about member's introduction still get to see them. The modification section would be the place followed by "for sale" once you got them going...
How do you find the position of the gauges? I had 1st considered putting mine there as it's a easy spot but didn't think it'd be too good to look at them while driving. I ended up mounting mine higher (in the actual pod and beside) so that the gauges were more visually accessible...
Cheers!
