Let's be honest now; to paraphrase from Jerry McGuire, I think the rig had you at "So what do you guys think?..." :-D

Nice choice. If I didn't need kid space and skinny for parking, that'd be high on my list too.

To be honest I'm surprised that it can seat 7 full sized adults + gear inside.

I didn't think it looked possible and it's even comfy in all the back seats.

4 ft 5 inches height from floor to ceiling inside at highest point
3 ft 11 inches height at lowest point

taller than lowroof Delica but a bit lower than a highroof minus the crystalite roof

Here's a pic of a full mtn bike upright inside.

That's with all the rear / 7 seated arrangement still in there folded underneath. If you removed the rearmost seat 6/7th person, there's even more
space both height and length wise.

What happened to the "good fit", "reminds us of our Montero", "like the extra space of", "memories of our ol' Delica" musings of the SWB L400? Are you abandoning that vehicle, or will the Safari just be a second?

BTW: your original post had more of a 'beg forgiveness' than an 'ask permission' taint to it - especially with the timing of "hey I bought one" so soon following. :?

i read the first post and then (what? 3 days later) he bought one.
to me it seemed like he already knew he was buying one and was testing the reaction from the brotherhood before anouncing it...
either way, if it is in good shape, he will be happy with it.

You're a very lucky guy. I was less than two weeks from picking that bad boy up. :)

I wouldn't have even blinked at it if the price tag was higher.

Did my research (you guys know how in depth I go) and picked it up.

We've got 2 delica's in our family so Delica's will always stay.

The Safari was like an unplanned pregnancy. A nice surprise.

"Honey... we have a new member in the family !" :-)

I'm not abandoning ship :M

ps. Paul ... Isn't that a Pajero in your driveway ? :-D

ps2. I was testing the water with my toes. Although you guys know my love for JDM's. If I could, I would own every Mitsu model out there. Perceptive bunch here !

Hmmmm I have that annoying voice in my head that is saying to me, "Saffari, that sounds like a great idea! You should buy one"

Care to share some of your resources? I keep getting the wiki page but nothing too interesting on that. Any cool links?

Congrats on your purchase, wishing you many happy miles.

Have a nice weekend

Ugly !

Resources ?

Nissan Patrol

They are sold in every county on the planet except for Canada and the US.

Competitor is 70 series landcruiser.

United Nations, military and governments use them.

They are built like a tank and weight just as much.

Ugly things but reliable and built like an industrial rig.

Ahh Nissan Patrol turned up some more interesting results. Kind of sad that I discovered this, as it looks ideal for what I would like, but of course cannot have ;-(

Um, ya, but at least it's still made by Mitsubishi. Crossed over to the Dark Side you have. No return for you I fear.

How about some more pictures? Maybe a side-by-side with a L400 for comparison.

No can do.

You think David has it bad with his written contract ? Mine's worse !

Written agreement with my woman = No looking or touching the Safari until L400 has gone to a good family.

I haven't seen it for over a week. :-D
