i recently bought some e coded headlights on ebay and installed them. They work good but i then called an inspection place and the dude says that they have to say DOT on them. Did i buy the wrong headlights?

No you bought the right headlights, E-Code ones are the equivilent to DOT. So you are ok, they will pass.
