It is not hard to flush the rad - you just have to find the drain on the L400. I can tell you that on my 89 4Runner, there is a little drain at the bottom of the radiator. I would drain the fluid from there - while the top of the radiator was off into a container. To flush, I would put a hose in the top of the rad input, and let the water flow through the engine slowly, as it drained out the bottom. Then I would run the engine with just water for a bit - to let the coolant circulate. Then drain the water. Finally I would add the water/coolant mix to the engine and top it up as required.

I believe the Delica is slightly different as your top filler is in a different place (that is what you have leaking I believe?)

Without my Delica, I can't tell you where the drain is - but I bet it is a little plastic valve at the bottom of the radiator, and it drains out through a tiny hose by the skid plate.

No, the piece leaking is apparently an air purge vent of some form, the filler on the L400 is on the coolant expansion bottle over by the battery (follow the tubes from the top of the radiator)

(on the L300 the filler cap is directly on the radiator itself)

I appreciate your advice about draining the fluids, however, Green is right, the air-bleed valve is broken and i have been losing some coolant. I figure the coolant doesn't really need to get flushed anytime soon, if it does I will get that done at my first 5k kms oil change. my little dilemma now is whether I should mix the green coolant in the truck with the red/pink stuff I picked up today...the consensus seems to be that you don't mix colours. i should replenish that green coolant with more green coolant. Just need to buy the right coolant now...the question is i guess, what makes the green coolant different from the red so I know what to buy? Yes, all this is new to me

the red coolant that you bought was made for a sleeved diesel engine that you HAVE, the green coolant was designed for regular gas engines or L300 motors, if you have a L400, then you really should get the proper coolant into it..

Found a suitable plug for my leak! Going to see Marty Saturday and hopefully get some new oil put in and the proper coolant!

Don't add coolant. This time of year just add a little water till you have time for repairs. Your system coolant should be a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.
