On ships the forward facing air inlets are for ventilation of the lower decks, not so much for intake of air to engines (for precisely the reason you described - too much water vapor is forced/sucked into the engines if it's damp out).FalcoColumbarius wrote:I know it is standard practice on ships to do this.
