Re: Who wants a new Chinese Delica?
I saw it on Delica Club Australia. I looked at the site and I see that Mitsubishi is supporting them in this endeavour. The Chinese are famous for making cheap, knock-off copies that you find in markets but they are also famous for turning out quality products. Thirty years ago I would not have given this vehicle much thought but as the political regime has changed somewhat as far as trade & manufacturing is concerned I would be interested at looking at one more closely. I am curious why they have a grille above the bambie bars and what it is for.

Pretty bold of them knocking off a whole vehicle! A wristwatch, big-name clothing, okay, but a whole vehicle?

Would like to see a set of the headlights from the parts page. A post release fix might be nice.

I bet Mitsubishi sold the tooling to China...
My 1960's Willys Jeep FC170 tooling went to India where the same truck was made until the late 1990s.

Re: Who wants a new Chinese Delica?
Well. Let's take a brief look at the Chinese:
We owe an awful lot to the Chinese. The West wouldn't be anywhere near where it is without the Chinese ~ we would likely still be fighting with spears & swords and dealing with diseases that had spawned from dysentery. We wouldn't have gunpowder which would mean we wouldn't have dynamite; which means we wouldn't have concrete buildings because we wouldn't have the mining capabilities that would afford us to the iron that it takes to build a concrete building and that precious iron would be saved for swords and armour; consequently we wouldn't have the Nobel Peace Prize.
We would have a very in your face imperial feudal system in the West because Oliver Cromwell would not have been able to seriously challenge the powers that be without gunpowder; which would mean that parliament would still be directly reporting to the king and the concept of "mob rule" (democracy) wouldn't even occur to us. What's worse is we would not be having this conversation because we wouldn't have the technology to have it, nor would we have the freedom to have it. If we had met at all it would be under completely different circumstances.
There would be no toilet paper. When toilet paper was introduced to the West we were suffering seriously from all sorts of diseases because we were sharing the same rag. The average lifespan would likely be 22 and probably miserable.
Worst of all ~ no Delica.
China has had a brief period of "communism" which set her back as far as manufacturing is concerned but boy have they rebounded fast!
I see on the CMC website that they are sporting the Mitsubishi tri-diamond bug in the top left corner of the opening page. I would suspect that MMC is standing behind CMC on this venture.
When we look on Youtube for Delicas there are quite a few vids from the Taiwanese Delica Club. I wonder if this has had any bearing on this CMC/MMC venture? I'll bet it had something to do with the "Super Tripper, Wild Conqueror" attitude tyres!

I would stay away from 'Super Tripper'. Triper (трипер) means 'gonorrhea' in a few Slavic languages.

What, the CMC Mitsubishi Delica, the "Super Tripper, Wild Conqueror" attitude tyres, or the subject of the 'gonorrhea'?flyfishn wrote:I believe it is made out of Melamine.

They also have created a new mk3 golf after buying the orginal mk3 rights or however that works and have some kinda 2010 adaption of a mk3 golf. Great job of em, not to say I'd drive one as its But ugly and Id simply be banished from the Vw scene... Well mabey just VWvortex but they always have great stance threads....

Re: Who wants a new Chinese Delica?
CMC is not a Chinese company as some of you believe due to its name, CMC is actually a Taiwanese company that was founded in late 60's to manufacture MMC cars/trucks in Taiwan.

My uncle works for CMC for a while, and the company is partially owned by Mitsubishi, the 3rd gen Delica you see in their export page is still manufacture under license and its mainly for export, I believe its also badge as Dodge Delica in Mexico.
Here's something for you guys to consider, because Taiwan is LHD and CMC has been manufacture the 3rd gen Delica for a while, the LHD version is praticaly identical to all RHD JDM versions minus some gimmicks, here's a Yahoo Taiwan auction for a 94 4wd turbodiesel.
the current bid is at NTD $79k or equivalent of $2500 CDN

Chigga, I'm guessing that you are from, perhaps in, Taiwan? If so, are you involved with the Taiwanese Delica Club?
