Re: battery recommendations?
I went to walmart with a measuring tape and found the highest capacity batteries I could physically fit in the spot... cost under $100 per battery for energizer brand, total of 1600 Cold cranking amps... never had any electrical worries again...
Now some on the forum prefer the expensive AGM batteries, and they are technically "better"... but I know I would never pay the premium for them when the cheap ones work so well. This is very much personal preference.
The only really essential advice is, if you have the dual battery setup, replace BOTH batteries, and make sure they are as close to identical as possible (I got 2 identical make/model, with identical date codes)

Polar Batteries on Boundary, a couple of blocks north of First Avenue on the Burnaby side. I personally like Globelite batteries because the last Globelite I had lasted me through four vehicles over ten years. These batteries cost me $150.00 for two 550 amp, deep cycle, cold cranking units.
Here is what I pulled up on the site search engine when I entered "Batteries":

Re: battery recommendations?
If you have dual batteries and are looking for batteries on the cheap, then I would recommend to go Green1's recommendation.
If you have a single battery, same thing. Go as cheap as you feel comfortable.
My opinon is go with a trusted battery that will never let you down or leave you stranded.
If you don't venture out on your own in the middle of nowhere, then I'd recommend to go cheap since you can get a jump from a 2nd vehicle if you need it.
I like the Odyssey brand because they are used in emergency and offroad service vehicles.
But they are pricey.
When I bought mine from Polar, the single 1500 battery cost me $210+tax. The same battery now is $295+tax.
However, that one single battery is comparable with two standard batteries and it has the feature that if completely discharged, it can be recharged without damaging the cells unlike conventional batteries.
Like others said. Search batteries and you'll find a heap of useful information that should be enough to make a smart decision on.
Speaking of batteries, it's time to start decorating our vehicles with Xmas lights !

I don't know that there is such a thing... the larger the better...loki wrote:can anyone recommend a minimum CCA value?
I'd say that your total should never be below 500 on a vehicle like this... but I personally wouldn't want anything that small, especially once winter comes around.
Also be careful of the games battery manufacturers play with "cranking amps" vs "cold cranking amps" the former will look like a much more impressive number and is often the bold print... but is only relevant at +20c... cold cranking amps are measured at -18c (my L300 had over 2000CA, but only 1600CCA (between 2 batteries)... L400 is still on japanese batteries)
