Best place for OOP in Calgary

Post by djelica »

Hi and thanks to anyone who can help.

I have checked the archives and have found a few posts on this subject but I would like to ask again as I have just called Stevo's and then tell me that they will not do the OOP anymore.

I have one booked with Pro-Active but have not heard good things and would like other opinions.

Thanks again for any replies,

Darren

my L300 was done somewhere in the NE, I think the place was called pro-star...

Really any shop should be ok, however ask them if they have experience with Japanese imports, and ask them their interpretation of the rules surrounding headlights, if they say "DOT" then you say "no thanks". If they realize that E code is acceptable, then I bet they'll be fine for the whole thing.

Ditto - Pro-star Auto & RV, 2705 - 5 Ave NE, 403-273-3300. Tony is the guy to talk to there.

CT does a very thorough (picky) inspection. If you can't handle that then I guess go to bobs backyard inspections. Cash with no questions asked.

they aren't even thorough, they're usually just idiots.
"your vehicle fails because we can't find the specs for rotor thickness of a Delica in our book"
"you must have DOT headights, european E codes aren't good enough" (but Alberta Transportation says they are!)

but then they pass american cars with no DRL and other stuff, so who knows what they miss.

I have no fear of my vehicle not being up to a picky inspection, I just don't want to deal with a fail on something that isn't wrong!

Must be different in cowtown, typically decent and fast unless you go on a Saturday which is killer. Never go to CT for service on a Saturday.

I ended up going to pro-star after all, had to jugle my schedule a bit to make it work around his vacation, but it ended up working, he did find one of the brake callipers that had been replaced a week earlier had died (spraying brake fluid everywhere through a dead seal), but I got it replaced on warranty. I'm not on the road and fully legal!

Hey this thread had more life in it than I thought. I got my inspection done just before the mechanic went on vacation (Pro-Star) and when I brought my van in there was already a L400 on the lift.

Now I know that it was Green1's. I was going to ask about it a while ago, but I have gotten very busy with my work and then there was some things going on around here that I personally have little time for. Internet fights are not for me and I have little time for an on-line life so I was happy to see Delica Canada get back to the kind of place I don't mind visiting and asking questions (and may be helping out one day).

This site has been great. Thanks to all who answers this thread and to those who offered help with the down shifting problem I have experienced. I still have not taken care of this and when I went to get under the hood and adjust the TPS and kickdown cable I realized these things are not like my old 72 volkswagon van or my old 76 FJ40 (the delica is like a hybrid of the two really) and that I should hold off until I am a little more familiar with these machine (I don't have a garage, time or proper tools right now and this being my only car I would hate to mess up or break something and be in worse shape).

Again my thanks for the help and hope to meet some of you on day.

Darren
